We began our quest into senior living because of our love for our beloved mother, Mary Bickford, whose needs became too great for us to manage. As we researched senior living options, we were shocked at our findings. The options offered too much or too little — none met her needs and...

You will notice that this facility has a 1-star rating. That is because Caring.com doesn't have 0-star ratings. Crown Senior Living is a horrible place to live or work. Many rooms, especially on the third floor, have been long infested with bed bugs. Want Wi-Fi? You'll be lucky to get a room with Wi-Fi coverage. Do you like good food? Forget that too. Rarely will they have editable food, and on those very rare occasions when they do, they allow only small portions with no seconds. Management is terrible as well. They all look down at their residents always thinking they can replace you with a better "class" of residents. Activities? Loser on that one too. The name of the parent company is Priority Life Care. The only "priority" they have is in making money by cutting costs at every corner. There is no care being doled out here. I would not put my worst enemy in this place. If you are looking for a place for a loved one to live while getting assistance, keep on looking.

My loved one just did not care for this community. It just did not give her the right feel that she was looking for. The tours were excellent and thorough. The community looked clean its just did not fit my loved one.
My mother lived here. The staff seems overwhelmed and the managment does not seem to think there is a problem. I left at least 3 messages with the girl at the front desk to have someone call me and no one ever did, i finally had to stand at the desk and tell her I was going to wait until she could find someone. The medical staff are not there all the time and they are too busy to get people seen in time. My mom had a swollen foot and they didn't have time to have her seen because they said it was not serious. She ended up going to the hospital and almost had her foot amputated. And then when she was out of the hospital and had more issues I tried to set her up with a doctor that was outside of crown, my mom said they stopped her from going and told her she was not allowed. Well that made me very upset because as far as I knew my mom was not living in a prison. I thought maybe my mom was confused so i talked to crown about it and they said they could not take people to appointments.... but we already had transportation set up for my mom and besides I take her places myself all the time. I asked them why they were trying to stop my mom from getting medical care and if they get more money if the residents see their nurse at crown and then they acted like it was a big misunderstanding and said of course she can see any doctor she wants to. Shame on them for trying to control older people especially those who get confuse like my mom. I feel bad for the people who don't have family to step up for them. We are lucky found my mom somewhere better to live but i feel sorry for the people there without family.

Response from Crown Senior Living
September 13, 2019We apologize for the experience that you and your mother had at our community. It is our intention to communicate and work alongside the family for our residents' needs. Our resident's are able to see whatever physician they choose and can come and go as they please. If there is need to further this conversation, please call [removed] and ask for the executive director.
This is a awful place for any resident to live. The Executive Director [name removed] is a racist! She calls the residents [language removed] and the staff [language removed] and monkeys. Priority Life Care of Fort Wayne manages them and they allow this current member of the Ku Klux Klan KKK to stay there and she has the police called there daily to save her because when she use them racial words to the residents the staff get mad. No bodys love one need to be here. She is bad news!

I have lived at this community for a while I used to love my home. It has changed drastically in the last 6 months due to Priority Life Care becoming the new management company. Out of all the staff here there are 4 people who truly care about us. The bus has been broken for 2 months and they always run out of food at dinner time and you do not get seconds. I am looking for a new place to go but finding a place that accept my waiver is hard! Please do not move your loved one in here. It is not what they make it to be. I have been given other residents medicine before! I think to myself sometimes good thing I have my mind about me. What about the others here that don’t!

I have looked at every facility in the area and the one thing that stuck out to me was the smiles and laughter on the residents faces. They looked truly happy and at home. The staff was very helpful. We are starting the process to move in!
