A Good Fit for My Loved One with Warm and Homey Feel

Brookdale is very good at encouraging communication with my loved one. The grounds are very homey and welcoming. The Director of Nursing isn't as friendly as they could be. My loved one thinks the food is ok. There are several options to choose from for the meals that are provided. Brookdale North Austin is great!

Brookdale North Austin is a wonderful place! My father-in-law has lived there for several years and has said on numerous occasions that he's being well cared for. [name removed] and her staff are absolutely incredible! They've had quite the challenge with COVID-19 for the last two years, but everyone has remained positive throughout the pandemic. I couldn't be happier with their service, kindness, and thoughtfulness.

Caring staff

My father has been at Brookdale North Austin for over 3 years. When he first moved in he was fairly independent with slight dementia but required medication management. The staff were very patient while he adjusted to things (like where he could smoke cigars). Over the time he has lived at BNA, as he has aged, his health has declined and he now requires a high level of care. The staff is still responsive and caring and patient. I am also thankful for the low staff turnover, especially with Covid. And my Dad is very happy with the dining room. Finding a loving, affordable Assisted Living facility in the Central Austin area is difficult. I hope you will consider Brookdale North Austin. And bring your Dads. My father would love to have more people to talk football with!

Excellent staff and facility

My mother has been a resident for over five years and she feels Brookdale has truly been her home. The management and staff have worked diligently through the pandemic and our family knows she is under the best professional care. The staff is friendly and really cares which is a big plus.

Not a Journey we Choose

A striking difference at this facility is that there is no difference between the assisted living and memory care wing in terms of lighting and the appearance of the apartments. The atmosphere changes immediately with dimer lights and narrower hallways. When your loved one needs to be in a secured facility, every little detail is important. Management and team work is superb. Dealing with CoVid has tested the dedication and stamina of each employee and has reinforced the importance of community spirit and strong, steady leadership. Missing and "borrowed" items are an issue only if one has the luxury of making personal items a priority. This is a community which enjoys shopping in each others' closets and boundaries are no longer distinguished or recognized. This is not a journey one chooses. Non-judgement and acceptance will make this difficult journey a little more manageable. Selecting the right facility is the only factor we can control. I am grateful such a facility exists.

Great sense of community

Since my dad was moved into memory care, he has been able to exhale. The sense of community in his unit has made his experience stress-free as his Altzheimer’s progresses. There are lots of group activities and one-on-one care that keeps his mind active, well-socialized, safe and happy. The staff is great and the care directors listen and respond to any needs or concerns appropriately. Top-notch.

Has been a great place for mom

I was hesitant to place my mother in an assisted living facility, but had a friend whose mother was at Brookdale North Austin, and he was nothing but complimentary about the facility. When it became obvious that my mother was going to need more assistance than my brothers and I could provide, we decided the time had come to find an assisted living facilty for her. We scheduled a visit, and were pleased with what we saw. The facility was very clean, the staff was super friendly, and there were plenty of activities to keep mom busy. Within a week of the visit, we had my mother moved in, and had her apartment set up with her own furniture, family pictures, and everything else needed to make it feel like home. She was also able to bring her dog. The staff has been nothing but wonderful during the covid lock down. I appreciate the work they do to keep my mother safe. This is a top notch facility, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for assisted living for a loved one.

A very caring, responsible place

Over the years, we've had my mother and father-in-law at this facility. The best part has been working with the people there. They all seem caring and want to help you the best they can

My tour review

I liked this community but the prices were on the higher side. They offered a good amount of care and amenities but it was just out of our range for our loved one. The tour was great.

We toured this community and it was ok. They answered all of our questions but i felt like they were trying to get us to choose them vs telling us what they could do for my loved one.

Our families experience

Overall our loved one is happy with the Brookdale community. Our loved one used to be a home chef so when it comes to the meals she tends to be more picky, but we have tried the meals themselves and we think they are good. The staff and everyone we have met with are very friendly and personable. They know all of the residents names and their families who come to visit. It is a smaller community which our loved one wanted, she enjoys the morning exercises and the bingo and card games in the afternoons. However we aren't sure what is happening, our loved one has been in the community for a few months now and still has not seen the doctor one time to get her initial evaluation. We keep asking about it, but so far nothing has come of it.

Care Couldn't Have Been Better

The community had a lot of activities for the residents to participate. I would highly recommend the community to others for their loved ones. They have excellent care for the residents. Brookdale North Austin was always responsive to our requests. For example: they allowed our family to come to Thanksgiving and Christmas. They even had seating available for everyone in the family. This was special to us.

Disappointed

We left under not very good circumstance and we would not go back. The caregivers were kind and friendly but didn't check on him at night and he fell out of the bed. We chose this community originally because it was located close to son's office. I would not recommend this community to other families.

Cost effective

The staff was pretty good, they took good care of the residents. I would recommend Brookdale to others. It is clean, secure, and safe. It was the most cost-effective option in the area. The food was good but not as good as some of the other places she had been in the past. They did not have as many choices.

Quick start, sad ending

Mother had a stroke on her very first night at Brookdale North and was never able to go back. We released the apartment at the end of July when we knew for sure she would not be able to return. All of her belongings were removed and the apartment left clean and clear. The management was advised and she was taken off the roster as of the end of July. Having said all of this, Mother would have LOVED being there!!!! She was excited to have her things around her and everyone had made her feel so very welcomed. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone needing care for their loved one!
