The reason the overall experience received 3 stars is they are not trained to handle difficult residents. They have exercise videos for hours in the mornings and very occasional activities. It is a good value is they still have the lifetime rate.

Response from Pavilion at Great Hills
December 21, 2022Hello, thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear of your experience in our community and would love the opportunity to discuss this further by contacting the Executive Director at (512) 249-0500. We pride ourselves on providing excellent care, including personal care services and medication management.
We toured Pavilion at Great Hills; it was a 3 story community that was really nice. It likely would have been too big for my husbands comfort, as there were too many people. We chose another community because Pavilion's price was out of my range.
Only thing we do not like - which could be more so the industry but our loved one was approved to move in there and after a medical examination that was performed by Pavillon and within the first few weeks we were told our loved one may have to move because they required more care - we found that to be very frustrating after all the work and money we had spent getting our loved one moved in

They were able to work within the price point that our family needed. I think my loved one is well taken care of. I text with the staff in both in administration and nursing staff and they are quick to respond.

This community was nice and beautiful. The sales representative was energetic and friendly but the unit was small and not the size of what we needed for my loved one. I also felt like the care was spread thin and did not feel comfortable leaving my loved one here because I didn't feel like he would get the care he needed. Everyone just seemed stretched too thin.
The staff was very friendly, helpful, and compassionate. The food was amazing and the community was very neat and clean. I felt like the community also offered great value and I would recommend this community to others.

The staff are hard to reach to check on our loved one. It took a while for us to set up payment the way we wanted to pay. When we visited recently it was hard to find the management team. The food is really good. There is a full activity calendar for the residents to take advantage of.

We toured this community and it was great. The staff was very nice and the community is in a great location. There were no private rooms available at that time so it just didn't fit our needs
This has been a very good experience. The Pavillion has more than met our needs.

Response from Pavilion at Great Hills
December 11, 2019Thank you Carl! We are so glad you have had such a great experience here. We so value you as a part of our community!
The Pavilion at Great Hills in Austin, TX is a very clean, pleasant facility with friendly workers and a fairly responsive senior staff. Some of the problems my family has had with the facility can partly be attributed to my mother's dementia and her inability to keep track of any items or remember what is scheduled, etc. So, we have had just one major issue in the three months she has lived there. We had a problem with her medication administration when the medication aide placed her medicine in her apartment for her to take on her own instead of staying and watching her take the medicine, for which we were paying an additional $450.00 per month. We never could find out how long this had been occurring - over one week for sure and maybe almost two weeks - and only discovered this when my sister and I started finding little medication cups with pills in them squirreled away in my mother's dresser drawers and under couch cushions. It took two emails and a personal visit from my sister to the Executive Director to resolve this; find out what was going on, what they were doing about it and have our $450.00 refunded. We were finally informed that the medication aide had been dismissed. Luckily my mother has no life-threatening illness, although she is taking psychotropic medication which should not be missed. I don't know if other residents were having the same issues. My sister and I have realized that we have to lower our expectations, because in such a large facility with so many staff and residents it seems impossible for everything to work well all of the time. We do not have the will, heart or stamina to move my mother again, so are just hoping this was an aberration and all will go smoothly in the future.

Lovely facility and staff. [Name removed] is wonderful and all the people there have been so helpful and friendly... We are impressed with all the programs they offer and the rooms and courtyards too.The food and dining area are very good with lots of selection and high quality nutrition. It is a place we are considering for my Dad. We are now looking at their Memory Care too.

I had a pleasant tour of this community. I toured it for my mother, and her needs. Everyone was kind, and helpful to my family, and I. The community looked nice, and clean from what I saw. The staff we met answered, and the experience went well. It was not the one for my mother, but we had a good tour of this facility.

January 8, 2018Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We appreciate your feedback and we're so pleased that you visited our community!
Mom loves living here she is so happy and content. She is content with her room it suits her very well. She has already made some friends she thinks all the residents are so happy and friendly. Mom thinks the world of the staff and so don't we. They are so kind and compassionate very attentive. I believe mom loves the food she gets very excited when they serve cinnamon rolls. This has been such a positive experience and I'm thrilled everything is working out. We would recommend this community.

January 8, 2018Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your feedback and we're so pleased that your mom is enjoying her home (and the exceptional cinnamon rolls!) here at Pavilion at Great Hills!
It is still a work in progress for my mother with her move to this community. We did a rough start at first. The lady that was in charge of the aids, and the medication management was on vacation. Since she has returned everything is working out well now. They have a good staff, and they have been helpful when needed. Also kind when I come to visit. The community is well-kept, they do a good job with the cleanliness. They offer good activities and provide nice meals. The verdict is still out on if I would recommend this community, but everything is moving in the right direction now.

This is a smaller community and it was perfect for my husbands respite stay. The staff were wonderful with his care and I had good communication with them. They do offer a lot of activities and trips out. They have a small exercise room and a piano the residents can play. We will be using this community again and I would recommend it for a respite stay.

August 8, 2017Thank you so much for sharing your experience at Pavilion at Great Hills. We appreciate your feedback and we're so pleased that your husband's respite stay was pleasant!
I had recently talked to this community about a possible living arrangement for my mother at this community. The staff where very helpful and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. He was very kind with his words and knowledgeable in all of the information he offered. It was just not the right location for my mom in the end decision but I was thankful for there help

August 30, 2017Thank you so much for your review! We're delighted that you enjoyed your visit with us! While we're disappointed that we weren't the best fit for your mother, we're so pleased that we could help provide information that was helpful in your search.
I have to say after the few tours that we went on this property impressed me the most. The appearance of the community is fresh looking and very upbeat. The staff and the residents seem happy to be there and want to interact with you. My mom is still adjusting but she overall seems to be doing very well there and likes it. She has gone to a few social hours and is slowly making new friends. She has not complained about the food so I am taking she enjoys it. Since mom has been there I have already recommended it to a few people.
