Our family had an in person tour and it was a really great tour experience
We had a very nice tour experience with Brookdale Midlothian and almost went with this facility. There was some miscommunication with the pricing and we had gotten a price without the care added in there. Once it was added it was very expensive. They were also rating my loved one as needing a higher level of care than all of the other places that we were looking into which I found odd.

They're understaffed. The people are good, but they messed up my loved one's medication early on. And one morning they didn't have her ready for us to pick her up. Overall we've had a mixed experience. The staff are nice and friendly. The facility is clean. But you can just tell that they're understaffed. And their billing process is pretty confusing. Corporate has been contacting me for payment that's not even due yet. And things were on the bill that we were not notified would be there. They do seem to be responsive when I come to them with issues or questions though.

This community was very restrictive and there was not a lot of freedom. The space was important due to the transition and coming from such a big home very clinical and its not a nursing home but there were just a lot of rules. not apartments room with a bathroom, planned seated lunches where you could not sit where u wanted. It was just not the right environment for my loved one.

Overall the people living at the community were great, our loved one has a wonderful experience with them and the meals and dining service was good. However the staff obviously like every other place was hurting but because of that they did not seemed tuned in to how bad the outside agencies were that they were hiring, and they did not seem tuned in to what they themselves were doing. The biggest thing - which we caution people who are looking into Brookdale is when they were assessing our loved one they missed some huge key factors that eventually effected the cost dramatically. At the time it felt like a bait and switch, and after speaking with other families there it seemed like a reoccurring theme.

We liked this community but as soon as our loved one seen another community it caught her attention away from this one.
Brookdale Midlothian set the bar so from the first time we stepped into the building. Everyone there is so friendly, they are always greeting us with a smile when we come to visit. On our initial tour we met with the executive chef and he was very impressive, he just blew our socks off. The entire staff team has great communication. At first our loved one was in assisted living, but then had to move to memory care. Anytime there is a concern or an emergency they all us immediately, they are always on top of it. We have an outside hospice team that also helps out, and even the hospice workers say they love coming to work and visit at Brookdale because of the staff and care givers. Our loved one is thriving there, she loves showing off her arts and crafts and especially loves playing bingo.
They have been very short staffed, so a lot of things are being promised without being delivered. There has been a lot of turnover with employment. As far as their food menu, it is very generic and I do not think they accommodate the residents as much as they should.

It is a nice friendly community. I would recommend you listen carefully to what the monthly payment will be for you. My loved one loves the food. The staff is very friendly, and are good to work with the family. The staff is always smiling.
Rated this facility at 3.4/5.0 based on my criteria. Good COVD and security checks. Facility is modern but commons areas are small. Exterior is very nice, private and quiet. Diversity noted among staff and residents. Residents appeared to be more active, not as many wheelchairs as noted in other facilities. Individualized care program set up for each resident (not using the 4 Level approach)
My family has decided to place my Mom in Brookdale when she's released from rehab. Brooke has been very helpful with us in making this choice. Thanks also to [name removed], A Place for Mom, for all her help.
More interested in $$$$ than helping my family member.
The staff has turnover but that happens at every facility. The communication between the staff and the family is very good. They keep us informed and they help us with face time to visit. I would recommend this community to others. The community was open to feedback and was able to adjust to the care needed for my loved one.
I am very pleased with the way they have cared for my loved one. The staff has been exceptional to work with. They will call back with answers to your questions or concerns.
The facility itself is beautiful and the people are wonderful! On his first night there, my father (who has dementia) said, “This is a gorgeous hotel! How long are we booked here?” The delicious meals are served restaurant style, with snack and hydration stations placed strategically throughout. The landscaping is lovely, and the Salisbury location is quiet, safe and peaceful.
I found this facility to be one of the nicest that I have visited. the distance and the cost are a concern.
My Mom has been at Brookdale for four months. First respite care, then assisted living then memory care. These rapid living transitions were handled efficiently and well by Brookdale staff. Every facet of care has been conscientious and kind. Staff members are proactive to look for solutions to small problems. They strive to improve my mother's day to day life enjoyment and safety. The new chef makes great food and [Removed] plans fabulous activities and outings. It gives me peace of mind to know that caring people are frequently checking on my Mom in her room and encouraging her to get involved in activities. We're very happy! PS - this was not my experience a few years ago with my mother-in-law at Brookdale but the all-new staff has transformed the quality of care.
Terrific staff. Beautiful facility and made the room over completely prior to Mom's move in.
We used the respite service here and it was the best thing we ever did. I didn't have to go to any other communities I fell in love with the placement site on the scene. The staff is super friendly and caring I knew my mom would be in good hands. She was involved with activities while she was there which surprised us. She said, for the most part, the food was good. It was such a positive experience I would recommend them and I would use them again if needed.
