My wife was a resident at Arden Courts for over 3 1/2 years. During that period of time the facility successfully navigated its way through the Covid Virus outbreak. That speaks to the expectation of knowing your loved one is in a safe environment. Current management is raising and maintaining the bar for a high level of care. They are dedicated to making sure your level of care expectations are met. The facility has excellent program management paying particular attention to seasonal holidays and birthday celebrations. The meals are delicious and nutritionally balanced. My wife recently passed away and was allowed to do so being comfortable, without pain and with dignity. I have no problem recommending this facility for a safe place for a loved one.... Read more

I had to put my best friend here in Jan 2018, when it had good reputation. After the excellent executive director left following Covid, care went steadily downhill. Management has been extremely uncooperative and uncaring. The few excellent aides were overwhelmed. Nursing care was also overwhelmed. Eventually, a simple skin tear on the right leg was allowed to become systemic. One day I discovered the LEFT leg was very red. The next morning she was unconscious and she died four days later.

This was a very good community but it was too far from me and where I wanted to place my loved one.
There is a good deal of the community that is not high functioning. The staff is so friendly and attentive. communication between the staff and our family is very good. I would recommend this community to someone who is further along in memory care.

I took a tour of this community for my loved one. The community specializes in memory care. They are a little expensive. There is a room for the residents to participate in activities. The room is like a family room, and large area.

The happiest staff of every facility we visited. If FIL requires memory care in the future we will revisit. Gorgeous outdoor space. Rooms, however, are on the small side - just a bed and chair.

My father was here for a few months prior to his death from Alzheimer's. The staff was caring, the food was good considering that this was an institution, there were many activities available and the facility was generally lovely and clean (the rooms are a bit dark and basic but the common areas are nice). It was a godsend for my mother, who could no longer care for him at home. We would definitely recommend it.

My Mother was a resident of Arden for 2 plus years before she was required to go to a Skilled Nursing facility, The facility provides a clean and safe environment for the residents. The staff is friendly and welcoming and encourages the residents to participate in community activities. My Mother especially enjoyed the supervised trips outside of the community. Also, Arden has an outside area for the residents to enjoy when the weather permits, helping to eliminate the feeling of confinement. Stacy, the Executive director of Arden, is dedicated to the residents entrusted in her care and has a very good relationship with the hospitals and other professional care providers in the area, making for a seamless transition for residents entering the Arden facility. I would like to especially thank Fontaine, a Supervisory Aide at Arden, for her kindness and aide to my Mother.

This facility was older and more expensive and did not meet our needs. The layout was wonderful.

My mother has been a resident at Arden Courts for 2 months and I must say the change in her behavior has been startling. Her previous residency, though described as a "memory unit", was simply a custodial location where she was basically medicated so she wouldn't be a problem to the staff or other residents. What a change at Arden! Her meds were decreased to a level just enough to control her anxiety. Her sundowning disappeared almost completely. At Arden Courts she had free reign to walk and wander about the entire place- even outside, in a completely safe and appealing atmosphere. Her aides have been very helpful and there are a wide variety of activities for the residents to participate in- even outings to restaurants, museums and gardens. The most important thing to us is she is happy there and tells us constantly that everyone is so nice there.

It has been a tough transition for my wife, and I with her move into this community. She has been in many community's, but I do feel she is receiving the care she needs finally. She is doing well, and they are taking good care of her, and her needs. I don't think I'am ever going to be comfortable with her living in a community, but I do feel she is safe, and in good community.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Weekend care is not as comprehensive as during the workweek, which I suspect is a result of limited supervision. As with all facilities of this type, the family must be diligent in overseeing the care of your loved one.

Response from Arden Courts A ProMedica Memory Care Community in Wilmington
July 27, 2017Thanks for sharing William. If you had any concerns you'd like to discuss, please contact our Care Line by calling [removed] or emailing [removed].
The care givers were very friendly as was the staff. The facilities are OK, yet there is inadequate the supervision when the patients roam the facilities. My wife lost a cardigan , a 14kt gold ring with 3 birthstones and her glasses ( $ 210). To top it off. the contract stated from May 4 though May 19. I paid in full. Then when I took her out a day early I got billed for an extra day. Must be new math.

This is strictly an Alzheimers community. It was tiny, very small. Essentially all they had was a living room and the clients rooms. If we were just looking at money this place didn't have an admission fee and their price included everything, even the supplies. But it was just way too small.

short term respite minimum 1 week accepted which is nice and hard to find. First stay no problem. Mother came home was very happy had pleasant stay. Second stay when I went to pick her up I noticed she had a black eye. No one in the facility seemed to have noticed it prior to me pointing it out (although it was quite noticeble) and no one could tellme what happened. there was no report written by the previous night's caregiver. Several people had been with my mother including the marketing director but they claimed not to have noticed the big black eye. After a few days I was given a report that she fell in her room possibly going to the bathroom. no explanation as to why no report was written or why no one noticed or questioned the injury. I was really dissapointed because I really like the facility and my mom seemed to like it too. Not sure if I will take her back.
