I am so happy that I was able to find a place like the Lorelton. Caring staff and so much to do. One of the features I love the best is they provide transportation to my parent's doctor appointments. This is a tremendous help given my full time job. There was a slight problem in the beginning with the medications but that has ironed itself out and all good. The people that work at this facility are caring and kind. I feel my parents are well cared for and you can't put a price tag on that.... Read more

The Lorelton is an amazing assisted living. Not only is the building itself beautiful but the building is very clean. We also love all of the murals and art work they have added to the hallways. The staff members are extremely kind and are always accommodating when there is an issue. Not to mention everyone has a great sense of humor and is a joy to talk to. I can really tell that the residents that live there enjoy their day to day lives and that they are in very good hands. I really appreciate the lengths the staff members go to keep the residents active and engaged throughout the week. It is also nice to see how friendly the residents become with each other throughout their stay, everyone there is apart of one happy community.

The staff at the Lorelton goes above and beyond to provide personal attention to each resident. They provide a safe and loving atmosphere for your loved one. The building itself is unique. Because it was a former school, there are large windows in most of the residents’ rooms, providing lots of light in the rooms. The halls are wide and residents can put chairs outside their rooms making it feel like they have a porch, which is great for socializing.

November 15, 2023I am glad you enjoyed your tour and saw the charm in our building. Once for learning now for living! Thank you for your wonderful review!
This is difficult to write, because my mother died this week. But when doctors at the hospital offered her options for possible care and treatment, she said, "No more! I want to go home." And home for her meant the Lorelton. In her final days, everyone at the Lorelton treated her with the utmost respect and affection. A steady stream of staff members came to tell Mom they loved her, and they left in tears. They took care of me, too, as I sat vigil. Mom spent nearly 9 happy years here in her home at the Lorelton.

November 13, 2023Your mom was truly unique and special and will be missed greatly here at The Lorelton. I thank you for your kind words and you have our most sincere condolences.
Friendly & personal is how I'd describe the front desk crew. Management is responsive and patient as I learn the business ropes of the community. My brother reports that the food is reasonably good. And the nursing crews are competent and friendly. As my brother can lean toward reclusive, I would like there to be someone who goes to his door and recruits his participation in the various events that are offered. He can be quite sociable but the solitary inertia can often rule.

In August of last year, my dad needed a facility that could help him with his daily hygiene needs when he was discharged from a rehab facility. We found the Lorelton and they have been most attentive and friendly. He feels right at home there and participates with the daily activities they offer. He has also made some close friends.

November 9, 2023Its great to hear Dad has made new friends and that he is enjoying activities. Thank you so much for taking the time put in this wonderful review!
My father, [name removed] has Demetra and this past May, he was admitted to the Lore Village. Nervous at first I was soon made to feel a special comfort in knowing that everyone knew my dad. "Pop" is the name the staff have given him and I think he likes it. From a warm welcome from [name removed] at the receptionist desk to always getting a call back or answer from the nurses, [name removed] knows us well already, just continues to add to my relief in knowing he is safe. There have been some ups and downs but a quick fix follows. The room is bright, and as clean as my dad allows because he takes everything a part. I made the request to hear from his Doctor and she did respond. I would have liked to have had more communication with her earlier and without my asking. As a whole I am happy with The Lorelton and hope to continue my dad being a family member.

November 9, 2023I am very happy to hear we are taking good care of your dad. The house doctor is not a Lorelton employee but I will pass your feedback along to seniority healthcare regarding the communication.
They have been so welcoming to my Dad and taking great care of him! He enjoys the staff and fellow members living there. They do a great job of getting him involved in all the various social activities. We feel so much better now that he is living in a safe and caring environment!

My father, downsize from the house to assistant live in apartment. And on my journey to help him, I had visited the Lorelton and when I first went in the door, it felt like home and not like a nursing home or assisted-living. The personnel were very friendly and welcoming. Since my dad has been there, he really has been thriving. And the staff has been tremendously. very helpful in this transition with me and my father.

We’ve been very happy with the Lorelton. [name removed], the director is always available to answer any requests and meet whatever needs may come up. They are constantly renovating and remodeling the facility to stay current with the latest Covid safety amenities. They continue to test the residents twice a week for Covid which makes me feel confident and safe about having my Dad reside there.

What makes the Lorelton really special is the people who work there. The atmosphere is upbeat and friendly, and my mom regularly remarks on how she feels lucky to be there. Her apartment is lovely and there are usually residents out and about in the common areas. The special community events are very festive.

I am a "roving chaplain" that has been daily visiting every Assisted-Living Facility in New Castle County at the request of residents (& their family members). Working "hand-in-glove" with staff, my experience is that the LORELTON far surpasses the excellence that I look for in the following areas: ~Facility-staff (from aides to nurses to group-activity directors to Administration) ~Food (not only the 3 meals offered daily to residents, but also the snacks they offer them) ~Friendship-building among residents (usually because of the socialization & activities available, both indoors and with local field trips) ~Faith-building for residents who are people of faith [For example, the Lorelton not only welcomes ecumenical chaplains such as I, but additional clergy who come weekly on Sundays and offer services to residents who want them. ~Fantastic memory-unit (called 'Lore Village'), with a wonderful Activities Director

September 26, 2023Oh my gosh thank you so much for such a wonderful review!!
After visiting many sites for my Mothers assisted living, I chose the Lorelton and I am glad I did. After just four months, I find my 96 year old mother to be more alert and up and doing many activities. She seems to be much fuller of life. She up and dressed before breakfast and ready for the day. Someone is checking on her several times a day. The administrator was very helpful with pricing and the selection of the apartment she would stay in. The nursing staff has been exceptional along with all the staff. The food selections are the best. You don't see anyone being left alone at anytime. Simply the best facility for your loved one.

The staff is extremely friendly and caring to the residents . They help the residents to maintain their dignity even under trying circumstances. The Lorelton has provided transportation to Doctors Offices and sent a staff member to accompany the resident when I have not been available. I believe the quality of care is a good value especially considering the monthly cost.

My mom was having a hard time making it day to day when she was living with me, she fell got hurt, got well and then would fall again and we would do it all over again. When my mom finally got healthy we found the Lorelton, she moved in and she's been in amazing hands ever since her first day there. She has friends, she adores and loves the staff, and I can tell that the staff loves her. They take amazing care of her and I could not be anymore grateful. It's a well cared for community that provides her with daily, hourly, minute to minute care, with activities and wellness that she needs and deserves. I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you to the Lorelton, from the staff to leadership to all residents, thank you for making my mom at home and taking such good care of her. Thank you!!

September 25, 2023Thank you so much for those kind words! We LOVE LOVE LOVE your mom, she is a joy to be able to see every day!
My life at the Lorelton for over the past eight years has been wonderful. Coming “before I needed to” on the advice of my doctors proved to be wise counsel for me. Though still completely independent, coming and going when and where I want, I have had cerebral palsy since birth, and have wonderful friends, but no family upon whom I can rely. Therefore being somewhere I can get help if I need it, is very important to my doctors and me. Thus I am here. The staff could not treat me better, from the director on down to the newest member of the staff who walks through the door, I am treated with respect, my most important criterion, kindness and caring. I have friends among the residents. My apartment, among the smallest in the facility, is comfortable for me, and I enjoy being in here as much as I do being out and about, which I am frequently. The food is varied, always with choices, tasty and nutritious. In every way, I am happy at the Lorelton, a good choice for me.

September 25, 2023Thank you so much for your wonderful review Pat, we are truly a family here at The Lorelton!
The Lorelton is the best. When my mother suffered a stroke, we searched the local area and found the Lorelton to be the option of choice, based on quality and cost and how we were treated. After moving our mother in (years ago) we were even more surprised with the exceptional care and the true concern for each and every resident as well as the extended families. The staff and administration are exceptional at every level whether the front desk who are cheerful and resourceful, the on-site medical center, general staff and dining staff and of course the facility administration whether in billing, resident sales who handle admissions, or the administrator who are helpful and very compassionate and why The Lorelton became an extension of our family. This is why when my oldest brother required assisted living care in the spring of 2023, our first call was to the Lorelton. We could not be more pleased and thankful, most important my brother is very happy there.

September 25, 2023Thank you very much for your wonderful review!
I have three relatives living in senior living facilities that are each very different. For my mom, Lorelton is the very best option. For my more independent relatives, there are facilities that offer more luxury and more entertainment options, but for my mom, this smaller facility offers her the security of being known personally and cared for by the entire staff. Everyone there is so kind and patient, it's really remarkable. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable, and as her moderate dementia progresses, she is still able to stay in her private apartment with full access to the entire facility safely, due to the personalized attention.

My brother calls Lorelton home. And it truly is home for him. All the staff know him by his fist name. They care for him and hey care about him. For each of his many trips to the hospital they go get him at discharge and bring him back, home to Lorelton.

A Place for Mom has scored Lorelton 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
