A great option for a loved one.

Staff is very friendly and attentive to family member's needs. Their attention to detail stands out compared to other facilities we have had experience with. For respite, there is typically, a two week minimum stay, but they worked with us on the minimum stays because of the number of stays we will be meeting in the future. I would recommend Alto Grayslake to other families looking.

Great Facility

Great clean facility. Love the different activities, especially the men's club for my dad. Like like the personal touch that many of the care for caregivers give. Would recommend to anyone.

Happy with our choice, friendly atmosphere

We chose Anthology of Grayslake because of the closeness to my house and we also liked the way it looked and felt when you walked in. The people are all very friendly and it really is a nice place to be. The staff and residents are super inclusive and they make you feel very welcome. We have come to know a lot of the residents here. I would recommend Anthology of Grayslake to others looking.

Don't trust your loved one in this facility

They did a good job with explaining, what they thought their services were, which was completely the opposite. They had limited activities for my loved one. There was limited staff to take my loved one, to participate in the activities. They need to do a better job with matching residents with someone, who handle their cognitive needs. The food was horrible, and was often cold. Overall, It was a bad experience.

It wasn't a right fit for my loved one. The food was not good. They did not have cable available in the memory care unit. They promised things and did not follow through. I would not recommend to other families.

Wouldn't Recommend

We thought it was good in the beginning, but there were things occurring we didn't know about at first. I would not recommend them. We experienced theft - our loved one's rings were literally taken right off of her hand. They were short in staff, and she was not getting the are she needed. They said they would do things and never did them. One Friday night, her fire alarm battery kept beeping in her room, and they told her she would have to deal with it until Monday when maintenance was there. We ended up having to take care of it ourselves. If a person didn't have family able to monitor things, I can't imagine what it would be like. For a very fragile population, it's sad that they don't improve their services.

We didn't see people around at all, so we didn't get to see any communication between the staff and the residents. The one time we saw residents, they were kind of just "not there."

wholeheartedly recommend

The staff have been very good to our loved one, they get her up and walking which has resulted in her being less dependent on their assistance and more independent. Sometimes our loved one complains about how "hard" they are working her but the results are very positive. We really appreciate their accountability and when they do make a mistake they own up to it immediately. There are a lot of different activities, tons of people coming and going, different musical entertainment and field trips.

This is a nice community but they seem to be understaffed . There are not a lot of activities or things for the residents to do. The community is nice looking and is clean. The care and the activities are the main things lacking.

My review of Anthology of Grayslake

Our family was able to do an in person tour, but it was in the evening so we did not see a lot of activities going on and there were still some restrictions. However we did get to see a lot of the community, but the value for cost was just a little higher than what we were looking for.

Not a place for Alzheimer care

This is not a place that’s you should consider for a loved on. It has frequent staff turnover, no transparency in what is going on. Zero communication and dismissive and condescending administration. The staff seems to have no support , the memory care floor looks like its mostly empty and dark. No engagement or activities for the residents in memory care. My Mother would often have someone else’s clothes on even though we would inform the staff every time it happened. I would give it zero stars , doesn’t even rate a 1. We moved my Mom out as soon as we could, and I recommend anyone with a family member there do the same. I gave the staff 3 stars but not administration, they rate zero.

Mom Loves it

My mom really loves the community. She feels really well cared for. The dining room staff is very caring to the residents. In the dining room when we first moved my mom in they told us that it was open dining, open from 7am to 7pm but that is not the case in reality. They also told us on our tour that there was a bistro where they serve coffee and dessert and snacks and sandwiches and that it would be open all the time. It never opened it at all. One big disappointment is my mom really likes the exercise class but it is led by residents that aren’t trained and my mom got hurt using the weights.

Having some problems

My parent has lived in this facility since it opened. For the most part, things have gone well. But there have been some real problems with communication with what is going on. Specifically, there have been many changes of staff that have gone unannounced, and details with my parent such as when showers have been given, if and when a flu shot was given, and a salon date that was desperately needed but didn’t happen before a family event. I would love to say all is great, but struggling with this communication issue.

Very disappointed in this place!!

My dad was at this community for a short respite stay and I am not happy with how thing went for him. The first issue that I had was the staff. They had a ton of temps working in the memory care unit and none of them seemed to know what they where doing. The lady who is in charge of the memory care unit also was clueless when it came to organization. They always seemed to be short handed with not enough staff to care for the residents that they had. I had went to visit him at one point and he smelled horrible and they did not brush his dentures the entire time he was there. Another issue I had is I was looking for my dads wallet at one point and under the couch I had found different pills just left there and that is not right on so many levels. I feel like I was sold on the beauty of the property and not the care that they provide. They did not follow through on anything they promised and I would never recommend it to anyone.
