Assisted living communities arrange residential communities and aid to seniors who may require a helping hand with taking medication or washing. Services provided often involve aid with activities of daily living. Occupants may be kept under monitoring and assessment. Under certain circumstances, communities may offer continuing care, skilled nursing care, or hospice. In Illinois, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $50,040 . Illinois maintains a number of stipulations related to this type of community. The Illinois Department of Public Health regulates this type of community. There must be one bath or shower for every residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. The maximum occupancy is 1 residents per room. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 3. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to guarantee their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as provider must ensure that the resident and the resident’s representative, if any, are informed of the potential consequences of activities that the provider considers to pose risks to health and/or safety, assessment must be updated by a physician annually or upon a significant change in condition, A comprehensive assessment, and evaluation of a prospective resident’s cognitive condition. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include security, non-medical services, housekeeping, and medication administration. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide three daily meals. Staff must obtain training in a variety of areas. These include: choice, resident rights, job responsibilities and limitations, and infection control. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include only a licensed health care professionall employed by the community may administer medications, supervision of self-administered medications, and medication reminders. Public assistance is available through A Medicaid 1915(c) waiver called the Supported Living Program and a 1915(b) waiver called the Managed Long-Term Services and Supports program.
