With regard to the caregivers, they are closely screened. We run a Department of Justice background check - fingerprinting, a drug screen, physical and TB test. We also make sure that the caregiver has a valid driver’s license and current car insurance. We interview them and check all references. There is an orientation process encompassing viewing the latest DVD’s on caregiving skills such as aseptic techniques also, performance skills that include transferring patients and using equipment such as Hoyer lifts, wheelchairs and transfer benches. They must have experience and know how to keep a patient safe.
