Cost of Senior Living in Chicago, IL

The Greater Chicago Area ranks third in the nation for its population of adults 55 and older, but is only the 14th most expensive metro area for senior living. The comparatively low cost of senior living in one of America’s most famous cities mirrors the relative affordability of its residential real estate. Senior living within Chicago’s city limits is more economical, according to the Senior Living Cost Index at A Place for Mom, than in its greater metropolitan area as a nearly 15%.

As affordable as the Windy City is there is at least one city in the Greater Chicago Area that is even more affordable - Hammond, Indiana. Just 25 miles outside of Chicago, Hammond provides a convenient alternative to families searching for more affordable senior living solutions.

Highland Park is the fifth most expensive city for senior living in the Chicago area. The wealthy city of Deerfield tops the list as the most expensive city for senior living before Lake Zurich and Barrington.
