The woman who gave us the tour was wonderful and very accommodating.
We have had a great experience with Brookdale Oak Park. It is a very strong community and all of the residents who are here have been engaging and kind. I would recommend this facility to other families looking.
The staff are very friendly. The location truly couldn't be better. It's right in the middle of downtown Oak Park, with close proximity to restaurants, movie theaters, and hospitals. I think they offer great activities and are opening up more and more after Covid restrictions. We've been very pleased. It's a very reasonable price for what we're getting.
Brookdale Oak Park looked really nice. And the gentleman who did the tour was very informative. There wasn't any particular reason why we didn't chose here, except it just wasn’t quite as new as another place that we saw. But it looked like a very nice place.
We have been here almost four years and feel so much at home. I was tired of a three story home and cooking each day. I had to convince my husband to move, but he has been very happy and busy here as well. The location is perfect for walking everywhere, plus a car will take you anywhere within five miles for free. People here are friendly, and it’s easy to make new friends. Staff couldn’t be better and has kept us all so safe during the past year.
My sister is very happy here. We chose this facility because she is familiar with it and it is close to where she lived, my mother was here a few years ago, and it has a good reputation. The room sizes here are nice. The staff members have been good with communication, I can always get a hold of somebody. I would recommend them.
My mother has been residing in Brookdale Oak Park since September 2019 and has thoroughly enjoyed her time there to date. The staff is absolutely amazing and attuned to the residents needs. I am so grateful for all of the kindness that they show towards not only my mother but the entire facility during the last year and the challenges that we have faced with the virus. Brookdale has been amazing in trying to provide a very safe environment for the residents and organizing activities that keep everyone safe. My mother enjoys the pleasant interactions that she has on a daily basis with the individuals from the dining area as well as the the maintenance team that is very quick and willing to help her out if she needs anything done in her apartment. The living facilities are very clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a place for aging parents - you can rest assured they will be well cared for.
Our mom became a Brookdale resident in [date removed] and from day one, we knew it was the right place for her. She has been very happy living there which gives our family a lot of peace of mind. The staff is friendly and genuinely cares about the residents. A wide variety of activities are offered on-site throughout the week, and in non-pandemic days they offered occasional local day trips and tours around the area. The staff has been absolutely wonderful during the Covid pandemic: going above and beyond keeping the residents protected and also providing activities they can do safely and sending email updates to families during this past year when we couldn't see them in person. Our family would highly recommend Brookdale OP as a residence option for your loved one.
Brookdale Oak Park is a wonderful community. The director sets the tone and all of the staff treat residents with attention, warmth and respect. The pandemic has bees especially challenging for adults in senior communities. The staff at Brookdale Oak Park has worked diligently to keep residents safe, encouraged and entertained. I recommend this facility without reservation.
Brookdale is an extremely well managed and lovely environment. The location and views of Oak Park and the city skyline are enviable and bring a lot of natural sun light. The top floor dining room, lounge, and outdoor space is something I'd love to have access to! I've always felt great about the independent living apartment my family member has and the many professionals at Brookdale. But it's never been more comfort as it is during Covid. I believe my loved one is safer than I am with the measures proactively taken every step of the way. In addition to the many staff members who are ensuring the well being of all residents, I'd like to recognize [name removed] who's the Executive Director. [Name removed] has been proactive with communications to residents and family. Her transparency and genuineness is remarkable and greatly appreciated. I'm grateful for Brookdale!
To sum our experience briefly, we were in a very difficult situation in needing to move my mother rather quickly, and from the first moment we walked into Brookdale and met [name removed], to today, 2 months later, everything from the staff, room quality, residents, etc.. has been truly amazing. I can tell you how impressed all of my extended family is and how happy my mom is there. There is zero percent doubt on the choice we made.
Great location, beautiful modern facilities
We were warmly welcomed by [Name removed] at this clean, well designed facility. His presentation was professional and covered most of our questions before we needed to ask them. He seemed truly interested in knowing our interests and needs. We think the programs and temperament of the individuals living in the facility are a good fit for us.
The facility itself is nice and the location is great. A few things to be aware of: First, the orientation is minimal. There is no effort to introduce a new resident to the executive director, the activities director, the dining room director and staff, etc. Orientation is left with the other residents, and so can vary depending on the (one) resident who agrees to provide the orientation. More important to day-to-day living, Brookdale has been having continuing problems with their (only) dining facility. The food is uneven. The wait staff in uniformly slow and inept and sometimes can be downright rude and condescending to the residents. Also, the dining room does not have open seating and so those that do not have reservations with a group that fills a table must wait for some time to be seated. Often you will see a huge group waiting to be seated while there are empty tables in the dining room. The person doing the seating of residents does not seem to get to know them and who they like to sit with. The dining room is a big reason why people decide to move from their homes, so make sure you ask about these things before making a decision.
My mom and I were impressed with the well kept facility, lovely dining room and view. The optional activities and learning opportunities were also good. Their representative was thorough and pleasant. We are still considering other options. This facility is more expensive than some of the others we toured. However, the close proximity to shopping and my current Mom's current physicians and other services that she uses is also a plus.
This community is over the top gorgeous. It is in a great location and the grounds are really pretty. The staff I met were friendly and helpful. This community was just a little out of our price range.
The staff are attentive, good with communication and helpful. They offer a lot of daily activities. Dad is particular about his food. I would say the food is about a four. The community is very clean and I would recommend it. The price is a little high, however it is all inclusive.
There is a lot they have done really well. They are supportive and had everything ready when we moved my Mom in. They had fresh flowers and a cookie tray when we moved her in. They are a fantastic. They are a little expensive, but you get what you pay for.
We have had a very good experience with Brookdale Oak Park. The place is pretty spotless and all the staff there is pretty amazing. They are all extremely patient and nurturing. I visit my aunt there on a regular basis and I am always impressed with what I see.
They are very very friendly, and accommodating. The food is good. One small critique - The challenge is with orientation and getting up to speed with the activities. Their overview of these and getting mom in and acclimated in these areas has been a challenge.
