Friendly Environment, But Room for Improvement

The staff are very engaging. My loved one has already made friends with other residents. I feel that my loved one is happy and safe. About the facility Altenheim

Family-first is the philosophy at Altenheim, an approach that goes back to 1977, when CarDon & Associates was first established. Altenheim ensures a better quality of life each day for their residents, by treating them as they would their own loved ones. So, regardless of needs, every person is able to get the most out of each day.

Altenheim has good costs and the care is okay. They are friendly and they do feed the residents with good food. Overall it's okay. This place isn't terrible, it's just that me and my loved one have had our own experiences here.

Fits her needs well

The Altenheim community has just been a wonderful experience for our loved one so far, she has as happy as a clam. It has fit her needs perfectly and we would absolutely recommend them to other families. She participates in different card games, bingo and has even joined the walking club. Our loved one hasn't been able to walk for years and now she is all over the place with her walker. Living alone and going through covid really just did our loved one in and now being here she is able to mingle and socialize whenever she wants.

Highly recommend

We went with Altenheim because of the extensiveness of their care. They have an attached skilled nursing facility, a memory care unit, and even a dialysis unit. They were also about $1000 a month less than where she was at previously so the value here is great. The staff is very cooperative and good at what they do. My mother loves it and would definitely recommend them to others.

So far, so good....

My father is adjusting well since his move to this community, he seems to like it. He goes to mass on Sundays but does not really partake in the other activities they offer. He loves the breakfast, it is his favorite meal of the day. He does not like the meals on the weekends, though. He says that they are not as good because they have a different chef then.

Fabulous community!

This is a very nice looking place. The building itself is a bit dated, and the food leaves a little to be desired, but the care our loved one received here was excellent. They are very well staffed, there is always someone available to help when you need them. The community is a bit on the expensive side, however.

A Place for Mom has scored Altenheim 7.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
