Assisted living communities have the luxury of organized social events and apartment style housing as well as individualized assistance. Services offered often involve help with ADLs. Inhabitants may be kept under supervision and evaluation. In some cases, communities may provide respite, hospice, or “aging in place”. Public assistance is available through Medicaid Aged and Disabled 1915(c) Waiver program. Staff are required to receive education in a variety of fields. These areas include fire safety, abuse and reporting requirements, the values of community-based care, and emergency procedures. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include transportation services, maximize physical functioning, health services, and 24-hour emergency care service.
