For more information about senior living options
I am Power of Attorney for my wife's aunt who is now 93 and has been residing at The Woods at Willow Creek, a Springs facility in Salem, Oregon, for over 5 years. I was so impressed with the care provided at the Woods, and their staff, that when my 95 year old mother needed care I immediately contacted the Springs at Sherwood and made an appointment to speak to Andrea. Andrea gave us a tour and we discussed our options for care. We did evaluate other facilities but were strongly drawn back to the Springs at Sherwood because I knew the business philosophy of management and had seen it applied for over 5 years. My mom moved into the Springs at Sherwood on December 7th, 2015 and she loves it there. I also love visiting her, not only to see her but to interface with all the staff from the front desk to the individual caregivers. I couldn't be more pleased. After I moved mom into the Springs, I discovered that a friend at our church had her mother there for a number of years before she passed away toward the end of 2015. My friend had nothing but praise for the Springs at Sherwood and was thrilled that we had chosen it for my mom. If you have a need, you'll not be disappointed with the Springs at Sherwood, or for that matter any of their numerous facilities. I can say that because I know the philosophy of management and that drives everything.... Read more

During my tour of The Springs at Sherwood, I did not find what I was looking for. The room that they showed me that would be mine was okay, but the view out the window was either to the parking lot or a blank wall. I need scenery. The staff were all very friendly and seemed to be prepared for me.

Response from The Springs at Sherwood
February 15, 2017Thank you for considering The Springs at Sherwood. Apartments with great views are typically the most popular so we apologize that we were unable to provide the perfect fit for you. Again, we appreciate your comments.
This community was great. I was able to take the tour. They were very accommodating and helpful. The community was bright and was clean and felt really good. The staff seems to be always there for there residents. The only reason why my loved one did not go here was because there memory care department was full.

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was well kept and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. We ended up selecting another community, but this is somewhere I would have considered as an option for my loved one.

I think they need to pay their caregivers more because they have a big turnover. They have a 14 day notice when you move out, but it would be impossible to know that if someone passes away. Yet, they still charged me for not giving a 14 day notice when my Mom passed. As far as the staff, they were good with my Mom. They treated her well, fed her well, and kept her clean. The Medical Aides were also very good with her.

Response from The Springs at Sherwood
October 28, 2015We appreciate your comments. We are thankful for a truly amazing staff of professionals that genuinely care and we are so glad your experience with The Springs was a positive one. We understand employee turnover is always a concern, especially when it means that your loved one may have to meet new caregivers. Our goal is minimize staff turnover as much as possible by taking care of our employees, and we are proud to have some of the lowest staff turnover in senior care. But also realize that sometimes, turnover can’t be avoided. Career development, household moves and other job opportunities do present themselves. Yes, similar to other retirement communities, we do have a 14 day notice in assisted living and memory care, as opposed to a 30 day move-out notice in most apartment settings. We know that after losing a loved one, providing 30 day notice is not realistic or helpful. This 14 day time is generally mutually-beneficial; providing the community a little time to ready it for another resident’s experience, as well as taking the pressure off of family members feeling the urgency to move belongings immediately. Thank you again for your feedback. We wish you all the best and we are grateful for the opportunity to care for your family member.
I think that their strength is in their people and in general they have a good staff, from bottom to top. I think that would probably summarize it all, they know what to do how to do it and they really care.

We toured this location when we were looking into care options for my loved one. This didn't end up being the community we selected but it was near the top of our list. It's a great looking place, very clean, and the decor gave it an upscale feel. The staff we met on the tour were all very friendly as well.

February 4, 2017Thank you for considering The Springs Living community. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
All in all, they've been doing an excellent job! My impression of the activities so far are just that they aren't particularly geared toward my loved one's interests. My loved one has also criticized the food a couple of times, but that is common and it's just different from what she ate at home. After doing some research, they were just the best fit! The people I interacted with were very nice. We also had an outside recommendation from a friend who was extremely satisfied with his loved one's care here!

Mom is in memory care at the Springs At Sherwood, and is doing great. She enjoys being with others and the interaction they provide. The activities are great and at a level that they can handle without frustration. The Springs is quick to let us know how things are going and quick to call if we need to be involved. The food is attractively set with portions they can handle. They are kept clean and the rooms and clean as well. The patience of the workers is outstanding. The home itself is very clean, bright and comfortable for all the residences.
