Assisted living communities offer apartment-style housing and social interaction as well as individualized care. Assisted living communities frequently provide help with transportation and appointments, outings for recreational activity, and care supervision. Under certain circumstances, communities may provide respite, hospice, or skilled nursing care. The state of Oklahoma maintains a number of provisions related to this kind of community. Department of Health, Protective Health Services, Long-term Care Services licenses this community type. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include must use a licensed dietician to develop diet plan, must provide three meals a day, and staff must be trained in food preparation. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include provide medication administration and observe the swallowing of oral medications. Public assistance is available through the Medicaid 1915(c) Advantage Program, the Sooner Services Program, and the My Life My Choice Program. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include assistance with cognitive orientation, assistance with transfer, personal care, and laundry. In total, there can be no more than 2 residents to a room. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 2. There must be one toilet for every 4 residents and one bath or shower for every 4 residents. Staff members receive training in a variety of fields. These include: first-aid, cpr, and residents’ specific needs.
