Assisted living communities arrange residential communities and health care to your loved one who might need help with mobility or self-administering medication. Assisted living communities frequently provide care supervision, help with transportation and appointments, and outings for social activity. Under certain circumstances, communities may provide Alzheimer’s care, respite, or hospice. In Maine, the annual median cost for an assisted living community is around $62,031 . Maine maintains a number of stipulations associated with this type of community. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services licenses this community type. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. These include: the administrator must attend any training sessions mandated by the department and The licensee must attend any training sessions that the Department determines are necessary to meet licensing standards. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include housekeeping services, service coordination, other services identified in a service plan, and assistance with instrumental activities of daily living . This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include observing residents taking their medications, treatment administration, and medication administration. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include menus must be planned in accordance with residents’ needs and preferences, at least one nutritious meal a day must be provided, therapeutic diets are considered treatments and must be ordered in writing, by a duly authorized licensed practitioner, and the maintenance of a medication record for each resident.
