An assisted living community is a residential living community which offers supervision, care, and aid to independent individuals who do not need skilled nursing services. The types of service provided often include help with activities of daily living. Inhabitants may be kept under monitoring and evaluation. In some situations, communities may offer respite, hospice, or Alzheimer’s care. The annual median cost for a private room is around $91,250 and the cost for a semi-private room is around 82,855. These include laundry, scheduled social activities determined by resident preferences, self-administration of medications, and assistance with activities of daily living. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include no provisions identified. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 5. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include reading the medications label, confirming that medication is being taken by the resident for whom it is prescribed, and communicating with the resident’s physician and pharmacy for prescriptions.
