Assisted living communities offer residential living communities and health care for your loved one who require a helping hand with everyday activities such as cooking meals or showering. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must consider residents’ reasonable religious preferences, communities must consider residents’ ethnic preferences, communities must provide three meals a day, and meals must provide a balanced distribution of the daily nutritional requirements. communities must consider residents’ personal preference meals may temporarily be delivered to the resident’s room Public assistance is available through Medicaid A&D and TBI 1915(c) Waiver program. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include comprehensive nursing care, a nursing diagnosis, executing a minor regimen based upon a nursing diagnosis or as prescribed by a physician, physician’s assistant, chiropractor, dentist, optometrist, podiatrist, or nurse practitioner, and scheduled transportation for community-based activities. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include distribution of prescribed medications, resident must be observed for effects of medications and undesirable effects must be documented and the resident’s physician notified, and Medications may be administered under physician’s order by licensed nursing personnel or qualified medication aides. Staff must obtain education in a variety of areas. These include: instructions on the needs of the specialized populations served in the community, fire and disaster preparedness, a review of the community’s policies and procedures, and 40 hours of continuing education every 2 years. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as a negotiated risk plan will be established, A comprehensive assessment, community will identify scope of care based on evaluation, and evaluation must be updated at least semi-annually or when a significant change in condition occurs.
