The physical \"\"plant\" at Verena is really nice, especially with the recent changes of new carpets, furniture etc. My concern is with services that are promised. We residents are charged A LOT of money month for services beyond rent for the apartments. We have been patient with the under-staffing because this happens everywhere. In short, I have been a patient patient! I still drive, but parking is a problem, especially when many of us can't do a lot of walking. Residents who don't drive often should not park close to back entrances. Food offered really needs to be improved. I applaud the efforts to offer us health food choices.. But I don't think the people cooking are skilled cooks. Very often, what one orders isn't what one gets! Don't name a salad or entre unless one can produce what is genuine. What you call an item on the menu, you are establishing expectations! Adjusting to life in an apartment has its challenges, but the staff at Verena helps in every way. They make me feel comfortable physically and socially. I am able to make friends at Verena and locally; I am able to learn about my new community through trips provided by Verena; I am entertained and informed by programs at Verena. At the same time I am able to come and go when I please.
