Rainbow Place is located in Rockville, MD. It was established in 1982 to provide shelter for homeless women in the City of Rockville and all of Montgomery County. The overnight facility only operates during the cold winter months. With a limited budget, the staff relies heavily on the wonderful volunteers from the care-giving community to complete various jobs to help the women be as comfortable as possible. To qualify, a female must be at least 18 years of age, homeless and referred by the Montgomery County Crisis Center. With an average of 90 women seeking shelter every winter, the Rainbow House staff and volunteers offer a variety of services. They make sure each individual receives a warm and comfortable place to sleep. A nutritious breakfast, filling lunch and a healthy dinner is offered each day. Hot showers are also provided, along with laundry accommodations, and partial storage space is available for those who need it. Some transportation can be provided as long as it is limited. Other services are also available to help the women deal with their personal needs. The Rainbow Place is a safe and secure environment that offers these women something that they are lacking in their current day-to-day lives.

you stayed in touch, but the amount of contact was so
