The Leonard Florence Center for Living, a state-of-the-art, 100-bed skilled nursing home sponsored by the Chelsea Jewish Foundation, is now accepting resident applications for its February opening.Located on Admiral’s Hill in Chelsea, MA, the Leonard Florence Center for Living is the first urban Green House® in the country, providing a home environment where residents will receive individualized nursing care. The complex consists of ten 7,000 square foot condominium-style homes, with each house containing ten private bedrooms arranged around a common living room, dining area and open kitchen.Along with serving the elderly and providing short-term rehabilitation, the Leonard Florence Center for Living also will have separate high-tech residences to accommodate those living with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and multiple sclerosis as well as residences for those with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. All residents will have the opportunity to enjoy “Main Street USA” on the first floor of the building, which will feature a café, bakery, deli, chapel, European Day Spa, and community area.A team of nursing assistants will provide meals, laundry and personal care needs for the residents while a separate clinical support team made up of nurses, social workers, nutritionists and other healthcare professionals will visit the houses regularly to provide clinical services.
