Great Place
Staff is wonderful. Right after she moved in, they started a major renovation that we were not made aware of prior to it starting. Had we known, it could have effected our decision, but everything worked out fine. They have plenty of activities, which we love and is one of the best things about the facility. Dining is good. Overall, I've heard no complaints at all from my mother in law about the facility. She is very happy there.

Lack of hot water in units
My mother has been a resident for 5 years, she has had intermittent problems with hot water in her unit on and off. These have only gotten worse. The management team has ignored these problems and done nothing to make amends. It is unacceptable that a person in their 90's not be provided hot water in their unit.
We have written emails and she has spoken up multiple times only to be ignored.

Great Place

Highly recommend
After what my dad was in for 5.5 years at another facility, this place just blows it out of the water. The food is excellent, it is less expensive, and there have just been no complaints from his end. He has a full apartment with a full sized kitchen and it is very spacious. I would absolutely recommend them to other looking. The location is amazing, it is walking distance to restaurants, stores, parks, etc. so he does not feel trapped.

Our tour experience
Our family had an in person tour and the community was perfectly fine, but we did notice it was a little run down and some things were broken. It was a little bit cheaper then another community we were looking at, but not enough to sway our decision.

5-STAR Teaneck......THE BEST!!!
Both my DAD and IN-LAWS are residents at 5-Star Senior Living in Teaneck NJ. They couldn't be happier!
From our initial visit with [name removed] (outstanding), Sales & Marketing Executive, it was clear that 5-Star was different than other 6 or 7 Senior Residences that we had toured in NJ. The 5-Star management team all have incredible tenure -- almost all have tenure of 12 + years. This is one of 5-Star's distinguishing benefits! It comes through in the "warmth" of 5-Star and how the residents are treated. The 5-Star team really cares about the residents and their quality of life. LOTS of activities, very clean, good food and extremely friendly atmosphere.
Good value and discount for Veterans. We, the family, have complete peace of mind and comfort knowing that our parents are in such a special place!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! You can stop looking!!

Pick Jewish Home and here is why
My mother was in Classic Resident that turned to Five Star.
These are the facts.
First and foremost terrible discrimination against the people in Assisted Living from residences in Independent Living. People in Independent had aides, made messes but they were allowed to turn theirs noses. I liked when these same people ended up in Assisted Living.my brother brought this up to the Director and she never wanted to discuss this.
1-Aide stole money from residents, my mother was one. Police involved never heard back.
2-Director of Nursing wheeled her and others in wheel chair at 7:00 AM left in a room, found y mother warehoused, by accident showed up to bring something, was very upset seeing this. Why?
3-Several times Five Star car service did not pick my mother up from doctor's appointment, it was winter. I had to get a taxi to pick her up, very poor response.
4-Many more incidents, the last one put her on the path to death.
5-I was the Medical Proxy, they called in a Psychiatrist without my permission or knowledge, she was acting oddly from a bladder infection. They never called me. This doctor decided she needed her meds changed, at this point I agreed. In a day I saw a horrid response; I ordered the meds to be changed back. In the next three weeks she stopped eating and starved herself to death. But before that my mother had a on site doctor's appointment Christmas week 2016, I went to the office to be with her, not there, I rant to her apartment and surrounding her was the doctor, nurse, head nurse , they never called me!!!
She died [date removed].
I blame Five Star and the Director of Nursing at the time, [name removed].
The food was okay, chicken always looked under done, the Director would come in and say it was cooked according to the thermometer, it was red.
If you have no where else to send your parent, then this is your option. I regret not sending her to The Jewish Home , not the Nursng home the Assisted Living.

It Has Been Excellent
Overall, it has been excellent. the sales people were informative and the move-in helpers did a terrific job. My loved one has been there for a little while, and any odds and ends that come up are taken care of immediately. They do an outstanding job.

The food could really be better at Five Star Premier Residences of Teaneck. The variety is great, the menu is great but the chef overcooks everything. The staff were extremely accommodating when we were moving in, we had to switch apartments last minute. Overall everything has gone really well here.

Great place. My family felt it was time for my mother who had just turned 92, not to be driving and to be around people . We found 5 star from A Place for Mom. They were great in suggesting 5 Star after talking to them about my mother whois still very active.
She went into the independent living part of the building where she has a beautiful apartment, lots of friends, plays cards and has a wonderful garden patio to enjoy the afternoons.
She takes breakfast and dinner in the beautiful dining
room where she dines with 3 other ladies.
This fabulous environment is something
that my family feels so happy that my mom is enjoying.
The staff, cleanness, service and care is wonderful.

My parents enjoy it. My parents are happy. I wish they’d expand their shuttle service. The food is fine. The best feature for the community is the friendliness of the staff. An experience with a community is almost always a very complicated and nuanced experience to express. The most important thing though is that my loved ones are happy.

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. This place looked very nice based on what we saw during our tour. Everyone was friendly and the facility itself was clean and attractive. We also got a chance to try the food, and it was good!

So Far, So Very Good
My mom has been at Five Star Residences of Teaneck since October. So far, it has been a very good experience: lovely campus, nice apartments, very good food (the best we experienced, and we ate at several before deciding), excellent entertainment in the evenings and good holiday/special event parties. The one thing I wished they did a better job of is checking on the resident and trying to introduce her more to the people there. They don't really facilitate this from what I can see.
