Based on the experience we have had so far with Brookdale Tequesta we would recommend the community to other families. However they could improve on the communication with the residents and their families. They need better internal coordination and responses including the nurse practitioner and outside services.

If no stars was a possibility thats what it would get
Place is a dump, bugs and soiled bedding and furniture throughout my mother's room. [name removed] the administrator should be fired for the way she talks to family and the way she treats people. They scam you for as much as they can get out of you and don't provide any of the services. nasty and filthy stay far away!!!!!

What we really like about Brookdale Taquesta is that it is smaller community, not a big show. Based on our experience so far we would recommend this community to other families.

I walked in and walked out. I could not believe this was a Brookdale facility. It was so bad, I would not recommend others to this facility.

1) Medical care (in house) - nursing staff gets 5 stars!
2) Food gets two starts, repetitive, no alternative choices and seems to be done with a strict budget in mind (cheap!)
3) Housekeeping gets 1/2 a star.. the good cleaners leave because they are only hired part time. My loved ones room is often dirty.
4) Laundry gets 1 star... many items get damaged.
5) High staff turn over / short staffed. So many good, kind people quit as they are overworked and underpaid.
6) Condition of the rooms is terrible... bathrooms need updating
7) Activities director should be involved with families more when planning outside activities in case we want to join! Not enough stimulating activities.

Our Tour Experience
The people who led our tour were very nice, and it was a good experience. It's just an older, more dated facility in comparison to another we looked at. There was nothing wrong with it. We just found another place we liked better. And if that one didn't work out, this would have been our next choice.

Wellness Director, [name removed] is wonderful. In past years housekeeping has been awful. I have had to complain many times of the dirty smelly room. Of course, I have not been able to check the room in over 1 yr due to covid limitations.

Sometimes my loved one's room isn't swept or the bed isn't made. Sometimes the hallways smell like urine as well. Some of the staff are not very helpful. If they were a little more open minded and took concerns more seriously, that would be a big improvement. My loved one doesn't get too much care, however you have to really keep on top of the nurses to make sure they they are getting the little care they do need. My loved one does need some coaching to get them to eat and it doesn't seem like the staff does enough of that. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we are not at all allowed to go in to see my loved one. Because of my loved one's mental state I think I really should be allowed to see them and make sure they are doing ok.

strong smell of urine. I only saw 4 staff members including our tour guide which appeared to be the activity director. A lot of seniors sitting around and seemed to be waiting on our tour guide for activity time. Not clean! The room we were shown someone was currently residing in there. Bed was not made. She could not provide any costs or apt availability.

This was the first places of many in our search for mom. The location was great. This is a small community of 42 residence. They only had 1 studio available. The room was adequite but small. There was not a lot of movement. No residents around. There was an unpleasant smell, but seemed clean. The sales person was very informative and friendly. I don’t think there were a lot of activities that Mom would join in.

I Would Recommend This Community
I toured this community for my father and his needs. My tour went very well. I would recommend this community, it is a nice place. The staff was kind and courteous. They were informative and answered all my questions. It was a nice experience. They treated my family and I very well.
