Would and have recommend
The staff was exceptional when we moved Sally there. They fired the top people, and it wasn't the same. It's still far better than other places though, and they have the best activities.

Overpromised Under Delivered
Lots of promised activities and care. Overpromised underdelivered. Pills found on the floor. Non consistent staffing and huge price increase. They are going downhill.

They were/are absolutely fabulous. [Name removed] is assimilating nicely. They have great communication with all of the staff members and family. The meals smell home-made and the chef is accommodating with various choices.

Our family had an in person tour and we were very pleased with the entire experience, the only reason we did not go with this community was the location. It took us weeks to make that decision because we liked everything about Brookdale. It was immaculately clean, the staff were incredibly friendly. We saw a lot of activities going on and the nurse was wonderful. They also told us we could call them with any questions we had.

No Worry With Mom Here
Both my father-in-law and my mother have been residents of Brookdale Pittsford.
They are outstanding at training their staff to deal with the wide variety of issues and personalities expressed with a dementia diagnosis. The staff are caring, efficient and flexible. They treat each resident as in individual while keeping the needs of the whole community in mind.
The meals are good with flexible options.
The facilities were designed for persons with memory care issues. There are two separate but equal housing areas allowing for more personalized care. Each side is set up in a circle. The doors to a larger meeting area and the second side are opened for much of the day allowing a large area for walking. Doors are secure.
There are activities scheduled seven days a week. Visitors are always welcome.
One of the things that meant a lot to my family was the ability to have hospice care in the facility with no change of venue for the resident. We may need this for mom.

More like Home
Mr. [name removed] and his staff work hard communicating with families. This is a beautiful memory care facility. A mile long place to walk, tons of friends to talk to and a very patient and caring nursing staff. Brookdale has been a home and more like family to my mom and I. They help her thrive and make choices. She is always ready with a smile, giggle and lots of hugs. I highly recommend Brookdale for your loved one with memory care needs. My dads never been happier !
Of course I was very skeptical about placing my dad but to see the change in him is remarkable, he is so happy to have people around to interact with , and the staff are incredibly kind I really believe it was the perfect fit for my dad and myself because I get to be his daughter again and that is the best feeling in the world. Comfortable
My brother and I decided that we could not handle moving Mom into our home and the hospital found placement for her at Brookdale after Dad died.
Mom is comfortable at Brookdale. She is calm at Brookdale, She is clean at Brookdale. She wasn't any of these things at home before our Dad died.

The people who work here are what make it nice.
The staff is concerned about the residents. They're not just doing a job. They like what they're doing. Cleanliness is good. The décor is good, and the facility has been recently remodeled. It's located in a nice residential neighborhood so you don't feel like you're pulling into a commercial institution. It feels more like a personal residence, which is a nice feeling.

Very Satisficed With What I See is Going On There
It is a very good community for my loved one. It is clean from what I can tell. The communication with the staff has been good. It would be nice to have more reports on how my loved one is doing with care and medication.

Aides were Good Administration was Not
The caregivers that worked there were nice, but most of the other residents there need far more care then [name removed] needed. He was bored to death. They ran out of his medication and did not let me know, so he went without medication for two days. The main reason we moved him in was that he needed medication management. I ended up pulling him out and moved him to a new community. I had a really hard time getting the rest of his medication back after we moved him out. The caregivers were great but the Head Nurse was not helpful and nasty.

Try Them, Their Nice
Yes Brookdale is a friendly, caring place for my wife. They do care for quite a range in conditions; many of whom were needing personal help.
I moved my wife from Brookdale to a home within 2 miles instead of the less convenient 22miles. The only reason for rating value a little lower is that prices were a great surprise to me: I didn't look until there was a need. So a head's up is begin planning 10+ years ahead.

Beware of Brookdale
Mom lived there for 4 + years. In the first 2.5 years, nice value. Generally good staff. Some of the aides are well trained and truly seem to care, but there has been an enormous turnover in staff as well.
Last 1.5 years, though, once the name changed from ClareBridge to Brookdale, huge decrease in quality of care. Rates go up every January, but quality has decreased significantly. Staff have been reduced to minimal standards, a nurse used to be available 24/7, not any more. Staff are overburdened with needs of residents, especially at night and on weekends. Residents with higher needs are [Removed]. Often left wet /soiled, not kept hydrated, meal times rushed-so proper nutrition is not possible. Focus has become meds and minimal care needed.
Mom had a recent issue while eating in the AM, she was left on her own without consultation even with nurse until later in the day when a staff person expressed concern. Another issue had also been a concern, but no one did anything about it. I had not been notified of any of this. I arrived to visit and was instantly concerned with her condition. No nurse was around, an aide called for support from off duty nurse and xray but she clearly needed more help than that. Sadly they have put her in jeopardy for the last time.

The hometown look and feel of the place was unique. A cafe where each person could get a cookie and cup of coffee was quaint. Plenty of interior walking space, but otherwise rather confining. Everyone or staff seems to know each person well. Small alcoves along hallways are nice to sit for a rest or read a book. Multiple garden spaces between the buildings were attractive.

The staff are awesome
The staff are kind, loving and encourage my dad. The food is ok and the meals seem to be well balanced. They offer daily activities and the community is kept clean. This is a locked community, however they do have a closed in patio with flowers and tables. They also have a vestibule with flowers outside the front door. I would recommend this community.

Love Brookdale
My dad has been at Brookdale for about a month now. Everytime I have visited, the staff has been exceptionally friendly and very kind to the residents. The facility has been extremely clean. Before bringing dad to this facility, I did visit two others in the vicinity and we picked Brookdale due to the friendliness and efficiency of the staff.
