Jay Jacobsen, my late husband, had quite a time in the last five years of his life suffering from Alzheimer's. The disease started about five years before he passed away, and progressively attacked his body and mind to the state of disablement of his body, and memory loss in his mind. The first thing he developed was called a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), or mini-stroke; in which his carotid artery in his neck became partially blocked to the point his doctor highly recommended surgery to clean inside his artery. He chose not to do so because he found out through research, that most recoveries had some type of difficulty, either during or after surgery; and that the percentages of successes relating to that type of surgery were only 20% to 40%. He took aspirin to thin his blood every day, but as the years went by, he developed poor circulation in his right leg. He recovered somewhat from the numbness and memory loss from the attack, however, little by little his focus and memory-loss caused his words to become distorted. He became crippled, but wouldn't use a cane, and found a walker very difficult. So, he ended up in a wheelchair; and in three various nursing homes. Sad to say, that was the way his life ended. He, alone made the choice. There's not a day go by that I don't miss him; but perhaps he's in a better place with no pain and a clear mind.

"My parents could not possibly be happier or more
satisfied. They are comfortable, well-tended to by
outstanding, professional, friendly staff, the food is excellent
and their apartment is sunny. They were comfortable and at
home from the day they arrived."

"Thank you so much for your help. I was at my wits end and
didn't know where to start, as there were so many issues going on
with mom at one time. You were a great help to my brother and
I. We've now made a decision to move mom probably by the first
of next month. I haven't heard her get this excited in a
long time. We really will be at peace knowing our mom is safe and
sound and well cared for. Thank you again for all of your
