We are located in a country-like setting near the heart of Ashland, Virginia—just 10 miles north of Richmond. Alpha House mirrors our small, intimate community by providing a hometown environment, which is ideal for our memory care residents.

If someone in your life has Alzheimer's or dementia, you know how challenging it can be. When you have these conditions, your own home can become unfamiliar to you. The people you love can sometimes seem like strangers. We can help! Assisted living does not mean life is over! At Alpha House, these challenges are just one aspect of an active, comfortable life. We take pride in working with each resident to preserve his or her dignity and self-esteem at all times. Everyone who works at Alpha House has had special training in caring for people with dementia. They are not only medically skilled; our staff understands the importance of qualities like compassion and patience. They know that each of our residents is much more than just an Alzheimer's or dementia patient; they are husbands, wives, parents, and grandparents who have led amazing lives. They have amazing stories to tell, and we feel honored to be a part of their lives. At Alpha House, our compassion reaches beyond our residents, extending to their families because we understand the challenges they encounter when a loved one has Alzheimer's and dementia.

Alzheimer's and dementia shouldn't stop anyone from enjoying life! We fill each of our days with activities tailored to memory care. Research shows that individuals with memory impairment do best when they remain stimulated and their abilities are supported, and our program is extraordinary in achieving this important goal. Our residents engage in activities tailored specifically to stimulate and enhance their social interaction by using sensory activities, reminiscence therapy, validation therapy and exercise. Our activity program promotes music, laughter and enjoyment. Every day, we have unique and varied activities going on just for the residents of Alpha House, both individually and as small and large groups. Additionally, if residents choose to take part in religious services, they can do so right at Alpha House.
