Small assisted living residences such as ours, now known in elder-care circles as “personal care homes,” offer a quantum leap in the individual attention and affection our residents receive, not to mention the emotional comfort they derive from a homelike setting, where friends gather around a single table for meals and gather in the den in their favorite chairs for television, snacks, music or conversation – all just a few steps from their personally furnished single or double bedrooms.

The Academy Drive residence has been lovingly restored and carefully renovated to meet the health, safety and accessibility specifications of the Dept. of Health & Hospitals.

Besides the comfortable dining area and den, with its personal recliners and large television, residents also enjoy occasional sits on the front porch or rear deck (soon to be reconfigured and joined by a glass sunroom) overlooking the large backyard and seemingly flowing waters (rippled by the breeze off Lake Pontchartrain) of a surprisingly scenic canal.
