Beautiful, but food yuck!!!!
The staff was welcoming and accommodating. Although my mother complained that they didn't arrive quick enough when she used the call button for help. The facility encourages outside dogs to visit and for residents to have dogs as pets; this was a wonderful addition for my mom who LOVED dogs. They also have a dog who lives on site. The grounds and the facility were well maintained, clean and very pretty. My mom had a gorgeous view of a field and a big double window. The food, however, was atrocious, and almost inedible. I was going to move my mom from this facility to another based on this fact. However, my mom passed away before we could make this change. A quote from my mom, "I don't know how the chef could make the food taste this bad." I feel this needs to change, as food can truly be a joy for many people as they age. Thank you for letting me write a review.

Mom is safe & well cared for
I would rate 5 on all categories. Every time I see the A Place for Mom commercial on TV I'm reminded how difficult it would have been to navigate this process without your help. Mom's in a great place - safe, well cared for - & great food too! The staff knows all their residents by name which is a nice touch! Dining room staff especially are very patient. All staff are quick with a smile & mean it when they ask residents how they're doing today.

Staff is very communicative and friendly. The place is immaculate, modern and open with plenty of light. The staff is excellent in keeping the family informed and quite responsive to concerns. The food is fair. We opted for our own nutritional snacks simply because our family member is largely vegan. It was very easy to complete initial paperwork and to move in personal belongings and personal touches. We asked for a chair and it was put in promptly. Our family member is in the memory care section. They provide stimulating activities that do help. Overall, we recommend the facility. They do try hard to keep us and the residents as happy as possible. Holidays can be a little short staffed, which is not an unusual situation in these types of facilities.

Not recommended
My loved one was previously a resident at The Landing of Brighton and her experience at this facility was terrible. This facility is very short staffed in every area, which directly effects the care of the residents. The cleanliness and friendliness are not good. I would not recommend The Landing of Brighton to anyone.

Comfort in a Secure Place for my Elderly Father
Initially, during the search process, they addressed all of my concerns, and I felt comfortable choosing them because of their reputation in the community. After moving my dad, I found The Landing to be very accommodating to the families. The staff and caregivers were very attentive to the residents. I was comforted by the fact that my dad was safe and well looked after in the memory care unit. They checked in on him quite often and got to know him. The facility was very nice and comfortable, and his room was perfect for him and 1-2 family members visiting.

I'm Happy Where My Loved One Is
We are overall pleased with our experience with the community. My loved one is being well taken care of here. The staff communication with the family has been pretty good with responding to our questions. Some of the activities available include: outings, trivia, entertainment, movies, and more for the residents to participate in.

Our family had an in person tour and we had a great tour experience. The day we came the activities director was sick so one of the aids had stepped up and taken over to keep the activities going and we were very impressed with that. The reason we did not pick this community is just because it was farther away

The landing a great place to live
I would recommend this community for a loved one or someone that needs assisted living. They have activities like work outs for the residents, outings and more for the residents to have a good time. They also had games and more for the residents to stay busy in the community. The staff were great and easy to communicate with in regards to my loved one.

Accommodating and friendly
Not only is The Landing community very clean, beautiful, pleasing to the eye and well maintained but the friendliness of the staff members has continued to stand out to us. Their constant help to our family whether its giving us meals when we come to visit or helping us move our loved one in, they have been amazing. From the house keeping to the director they are all just wonderful. Even though our loved one does not always participate in the activities, there is always plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Change Confusion
Two sections in the building; independent assisted living and memory care. Eliminated bulky furniture for easy to move items and storage cube shelves: display and storage bins. Cleaning in MC doesn't happen often enough. Too many faces take care of your loved one. Just 2 choices of meals at each setting. Change of management could mean new personnel.

Best Decision I've Made for My Parents
They were great with welcoming my loved ones during the pandemic. The community did a great job with helping my loved ones adjust, getting them involved in activities, and it's a fun environment. Anytime I visit the staff is laughing with the residents. It's like a second home. I'm so glad this is the choice we made.

Highly recommend The Landing of Brighton
We have had no complaints regarding the cleanliness of the community, and the staff members are always saying hi to us when we visit. When it comes to the meals they do offer a variety of choices to pick from, and if you do not like those options they are very accommodating and give you something else. The assisted living folks activities were pretty limited this past year, however the memory care side continued their daily activities as if there was not a pandemic,

Welcoming Staff and Caregivers
This community is awesome and I liked the staff. My loved on was well cared for. The food was delicious for my loved one. The room was private, and beautiful and had it's own private bath. The community has two floors. The community allows cats and my mom was in the hospital and the staff took care of the cat in her absence.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the New York regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about New York regulations for Assisted Living.

A Place for Mom has scored The Landing of Brighton 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
