I would recommend
They were very good and we were pleased with the care that he received while he was here. The thing I really liked about them was how bright the facility is, it really helped with the sundowning that he had with his dementia. I would recommend Kirkwood Corners to other families.

Our tour experience
Our family had an in person tour and it was a great tour but it is more like a nursing home and for seniors who are more advanced in their health.

I find Kirkwood Corners to be more of a home than a facility. The country setting is lovely and the residents respond well to it's natural surroundings. The staff greet all residents by name and know their likes and personalities. We are fortunate to have Kirkwood Corners in our community.

If Ever I cannot stay at home, I hope I’m lucky enough to go to Kirkwood in Lee
Kirkwood Corners is THE place to go if Home is no longer an option for you or your loved one. Why? 1. The place. Kirkwood in Lee is small and intimate. It has a homey feeling and smells fresh and clean from the moment you walk in. There is a genuine living room and there are several real dining rooms. Some with fire places. The rooms are cozy and can be decorated to the nines! 2. The staff. The Kirkwood’ staff is caring and responsible. Every person on the staff is kind, friendly and does their job cheerfully and with great energy. You can count on this staff to give loving and personal care to you or your loved one. Everyone is attentive and willing to hear your questions or concerns. I have personally witnessed the Executive Director, head nurse and LNA’s stay with a new person who was confused for well over an hour, comforting and listening until that person felt at home and safe. Bonus: There is a private chef! 3. The food. There are home cooked meals made by a private chef! The meals taste good, smell good and provide fun as well as nutrition! 4. Activities!! I have personally attended parties, piano concerts, trivial pursuit and more! There was even a senior prom this fall! No kidding. 5. Your loved one. I visit my loved one most days. Every time I arrive the folks who live at Kirkwood smile and wave to me! Everyone, no matter what their personal circumstances, is treated with love and concern and they know it. Your loved one will feel respected and will be clean and tidy and their rooms will be treated that way too. 6. The chickens. When you drive up to Kirkwood you are greeted by chickens! This is a peaceful country setting, where even the animals are loved. If someday I can’t stay home, I hope I will be lucky enough to go to Kirkwood. Thank you to everyone! Special thanks to everyone at Kirkwood for your caring and love.

Difficult To See It As A Home
We were drawn back by the sight of seeing it along the lines of a Nursing Home. We weren't there long because we felt that it was unfit and didn't like the atmosphere. My uncle did not need that feeling. I was able to meet with them and I was treated very friendly.

Perfect for Mom ( and me).
The staff at Kirkwood is wonderfully caring. Caring for both their residents and families. It was a difficult decision to make when it became obvious that my mother could no longer safely care for herself. The staff at Kirkwood guided me thru the process of acceptance, letting go and then participating in my mothers daily life minus the worry and tasks we both had while she was in her former situation. It is a joy to see mom so happy and content. The facility is homey; a country home setting. Not a sterile brick and mortar building. We are so lucky that my mother is in their care.

Great assisted living!
Kirkwood Corners is an amazing assisted living facility! It is in a beautiful setting, very comfortable, and feels like home. My grandmother loves being at Kirkwoods, and enjoys all of the activities, outings, the caring staff, and all of the events. Everyone is friendly, and they truly know and understand their residents. We could not ask for any place better for her to live!

The staff at Kirkwood have been great at helping my mother in law adjust to her new home. They listen to our suggestions and concerns. The staff is always friendly and smiling. It is hard to making the decision to place you loved one in a care facility but Kirkwood has made us feel more comfortable about leaving her in there care.

Amazed at how quickly Dad adjusted
A small homey residence that is an old farmhouse. The staff is very accomodating and nice. We were worried about Dad because he had a bad experience at another facility but Krikwoods went above and beyond to make sure he was happy and had everything he needed. We are amazed (really amazed!) at how quickly Dad settled in and now considers this home! We really didnt expect it to work out. Now we can relax and not worry every day that he is not happy and he is well taken care of!

Stephanie gave me an excellent tour. I found the facility to be in need of a lot of upgrading, which I understand the new owners are in the process of doing. While I was there, there were noisy renovations ongoing that were startling to the residents. Recently completed upgrading their kitchen. No secure outdoor location was a concern. This facility for me was too far away from friends and family for consideration, but if I were looking in this area I would check it out again in a year to see if renovations were making solid progress.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the New Hampshire regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about New Hampshire regulations for Assisted Living.
