The space is always active since there is so much going on all the time and so many different things to do. It is light and bright and the people seem genuinely happy here. They have big wide hallways, weekly housekeeping and the staff are very friendly.

I toured this community and it was good. It's clean and everyone was friendly. The surrounding area isn't as nice as some of the other places, as far as the neighborhood. The apartments seemed a little bit smaller. But overall, it was pretty good.
My loved one seems to like the food. They offer a lot of activities, They are very reasonable, they have a lot to offer, and it's very good value for money. It's a very nice place. They always have something going on for the residents.

San Marino Retirement was amazing. The staff were REALLY good, with lots of energy. There were lots of things to do. It was a beautiful campus. The only downslide was it was not quite as new on the inside. But they were definitely our runner-up.
They were super accommodating, especially after my loved one got sick. The décor was really nice, and the facility was really clean. They have this beautiful garden outside that was just amazing. That was probably one of the coolest things - the garden and the landscaping. We didn't see anything like that at any of the other places we toured. And the food I tried was good.

Our family had an in person tour experience and they were going through a major renovation. At the time about 80% of the community was renovated and internally everything looked brand new. They have assisted living available for residents which is nice. The community is in a good location, but the convenience factor can either be a negative or positive. The community sits about a mile away from the major turnpike, so for the elderly individual that is sharp, with it, and up to speed will get great use out of the turnpike, but for those whose mind and reflexes may be declining it can be a little risky being that close. With out loved one that was a concern since its pretty intense traffic and commotion.
When the residents had to be on lock down the food was being delivered in lunch bags so the food wasn't the best, but when the dining room is open our loved one seems really happy with the meals. The activities are limited, but getting better. They have live entertainment every once in awhile, happy hours, and the residents can go out on outings. The value for cost hurts a little, but considering how nice, clean and friendly the staff members are, it is very fair. This community just looks like a little resort, with very pretty grounds.

It's a beautiful facility. They encourage independence in the residents as long as possible. If additional care is needed, they do fairly well in making sure resident needs are met. They've been very patient. I love the garden courtyard that's easy to walk around. The food is good - they have really big portion sizes, but they're very balanced meals. Activities are opening back up. They have blackjack, Wii bowling, and a happy hour every Monday through Friday. The staff is really friendly and outgoing, and it seems like they try to make connections with people. The residents are overall pretty friendly, but they may be a little judgmental about when people need extra services. I think they're likely concerned about Coivid, and not wanting visitors or extra people around, even if they're there to assist their loved ones. Little do they know I've been vaccinated as well. I did talk to the manager, and I think it's probably been worked out. Overall, I would definitely recommend this community.

They were a very lovely community. The community is really nice and very well maintained. They just weren't very cooperative with us. They were really kind of snobby and just did not have a very warm and inviting atmosphere. We really liked the actual community just not the atmosphere they have.

A Place for Mom has scored San Marino Retirement Community 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
