We toured Hunters Woods at Trails Edge during our search for an Independent Living facility for our loved one. Everyone at this facility was friendly and it was very clean. The staff was great and the atmosphere was happy. Our tour guide was personable.
Our family had an in person tour with Hunters Woods and even though it was not the place for our loved one, we felt the tour experience and the community was very nice.

Your feedback is essential to us, and we are committed to enhancing your overall experience. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further suggestions or concerns. It's a brand new facility. Staff is friendly and helpful. Lots of activities but could be better about getting the Independent Living residents involved. Food is always good, but service could be more timely.

Response from Hunters Woods at Trails Edge
September 4, 2023Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on our community. We greatly appreciate your input, as it helps us continually improve our services and amenities. We're happy to hear that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful; creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere is a top priority. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any further suggestions or concerns. Thank you for supporting our community!
The management team does not strive to improve their responsiveness and communication with residents and attend to the needs and concerns of the community. There is not a diverse range of activities offered to residents that are engaging, stimulating, and cater to a variety of interests. It's a cycle of repetitive and mundane activities. The activity director to does not engage with residents to foster a sense of connection and create a welcoming and inclusive environment. There have been many complaints about the food quality which has never been addressed. I would not recommend Hunter Woods.

Response from Hunters Woods at Trails Edge
June 30, 2023We appreciate your feedback. Family and Resident reviews help us learn more about what our residents are most interested in. At Hunters Woods at Trails Edge we have well-attended monthly resident meetings specific to activity planning. The residents provide input on everything from outings to guest performances and special events. This is in addition to weekly and daily postings of available activities open to all Independent Living residents. Many of the activities are resident-led and include things like Bible study, card games, mahjong, and a writers group. There are many opportunities as well for impromptu gatherings to complete puzzles or talk about current events. We would love to have you and your loved one sit down with Kristine Llanes, Life Stages Director, to review the many options and help develop a list of the activities that are most interesting to your parent. Please call Ms. Llanes at (703) 429-1130 at your earliest convenience to schedule either a virtual or in-person conference. Thank you!
Our family was very hesitant in moving our love one into any community. After visiting many communities in the Reston and Fairfax area, we chose Hunters Woods at Trails Edge. Mum/ grand mum has been there only for a week but I feel so much better. The family now have peace of mind. My love one is always in high spirits anytime we have visited and she is enjoying some of best time there. The staff and management team made the transition very smooth for my family. We are very grateful. Thank you.

I toured this facility and it was very nice! It was like walking into a luxury hotel, it seemed like they had the latest and greatest of everything. It's new construction and an awesome facility, but was over budget for us. My tour guide was very thorough and nice. This is an extremely nice facility. I would suggest that everyone looking in this price range visit this place.
There's a lack of certain things in regards to servicing. My loved one was there for at least a year in assisted living. Communication is lacking; how they deal with clients and families is subpar. We had to move her out because she was not being bathed properly. She was difficult, however, there was no explanation to that. Cleaning in the room was inconsistent, there would be dust under the bed and on the side tables. My loved one was supposed to be on a restricted calorie diet, and that was not taken care of. She was 50 pounds overweight, which shows there was a lack of concern in nutrition. In regards to the staff - I told the Director of Care Operations that when we tried to move my loved one from assisted living to Light Bridges, we never received a call from the General Manager for reassessing of pricing. They wanted more money, but never reciprocated the information we needed as to how we can navigate that. They were unprofessional and their communication was as well. I understand that they have to make money, but you can make a profit and also communicate with clients and prospective sales. It's a beautiful great looking building, but I would not recommend the property. I wanted my mom to stay in Reston, but the organizational structure is lacking. They have a lot of turnover. They lack culture, you need a positive culture in a professional organization like that and it's lacking.

This has been a positive experience for my loved ones so far. We would like to see more activities available in the community for the residents to participate in. The dining is pretty good for the residents. There is one meal served to the residents and it is dinner.

Endless problems with internal and external communication, follow up, hygiene, day to day care, staffing, training, you name it. Going on two years now of almost constant issues, and endless assurances that they will improve. They don't. I have lost hope.

The building is set amidst woods and is adjacent to the Reston Community Center with its swimming pool and many other facilities. The look and feel of the common areas has a kind of industrial quality to it. You are definitely aware that you are in an apartment building and not somebody's home. The 2 bedroom apartments we toured were nicely laid out with good space for the limited square footage. I gave it 4 stars because of the meal plan which allows you to eat anytime before 2:00 for an extra change, the many activity rooms each set up for a different purpose. Full kitchens and washer/dryer in apartments was a must have.

Beautiful place, quite expensive, may be an overkill for my mom. Concern for her taking vitamins on her own. Sticky point with them.

We loved this property. The person who gave us the tour,([name removed]), was lovely. The property felt tranquil, clean and welcoming. The location is wonderful. Beautiful wooded area with walking trails. Close to restaurants and shops. We liked the company's philosophy of taking care of the employees first than the residents. It makes sense, trickle down effect. Happy employees lead to happy residents.

My mom moved here shortly after they opened and LOVES it! She talks about it all the time when I call her to check in and seems to be really settling in. The food is top notch and one of the reasons I was happy she liked the community. A new community like this will have some growing pains but the staff communicates to residents and families if there are problems and sets expectations well. Now if I could just get my in-laws to be as proactive thinking as my Mom and move here!
