","reviewContent":"The facility is very nice for the price range, most of the staff is quite good and a few are wonderful. But there are some that I wish weren't there. They were adequate, but not careful and caring and kind -- they were rather brusque and a bit sullen. My dad was there for 9 months so it wasn't just a bad day. I appreciate that the nursing home didn't have a lot of turnover and other homes we looked at were understaffed. But I wish all of the staff was great. Probably not very realistic. \n","reviewerDisplayName":"Anonymous","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"A Warm and Caring Environment ","reviewContent":"The Director, [name removed] (I think that's the spelling, please double check), is great. Caring and approachable. He sets the tone for the facility. If you're looking for a place that has more of a homey feel than a hotel feel, Tall Oaks will not disappoint. \nThe activities may be fine now. Covid was winding down, but was still an issue when my mother was there. The food was very bland and portions were small. I understand food sensitivities, but not everyone has them, so more of a range would be good. Maybe themes, like Mexican night. I don't know if improvements are possible under the circumstances there. \n","reviewerDisplayName":"Anonymous","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Comfortable respite stay","reviewContent":"My parents were here for a respite stay. The minimum amount of time required for a respite stay is one month. The decor is outdated but the accommodations were comfortable. Overall it was a very good experience. \n","reviewerDisplayName":"Karen ","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Over all good experience ","reviewContent":"Tall Oaks has been a good experience for us overall. Some staff is ok, some are fantastic. Overall we feel like our loved one is well cared for. We chose them because it seemed like the best fit.","reviewerDisplayName":"Anonymous","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Our Experience","reviewContent":"Staff are diligent to keep family contact up to date with any developments re health matters. Staff are persistent to make transition of new residents to be successful. Many have been there for years, so there is some continuity rather than the staff revolving door we experienced at other places. Housekeeping is responsive to needs. Communication with family is excellent, meals seem well planned and mom likes meals. Always get the sense of being welcome and mom likes the décor and staff. I definitely recommend based on one year experience. It is family, privately owned. That seems to make a difference on how they deal with staff and residents, and even family compared to a big corporation where leadership defaults to corporate rather than making a decision. We are very relieved that mom has adapted to her new home and appreciate the regular communication from care team and management. ","reviewerDisplayName":"Anonymous","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Friendly Staff and Safe Facilities ","reviewContent":"Friendly staff, but some medical appointments are not well supported needing transport off site. Such as hearing aid appointments and dentistry. \nI would recommend Tall Oaks to others looking. ","reviewerDisplayName":"Anonymous","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Very Happy with Tall Oaks: Wonderful staff, happy residents, and overall positive experience","reviewContent":"The staff were great. The ONLY person I had any issue with was the Therapy Director but the Director of Nursing was very helpful with that. There was just confusion over the orders and getting therapy started. But it quickly rectified. The rest of the staff was great!! The facility is dated, but always very clean. I would definitely recommend Tall Oaks Assisted Living to others looking. \n","reviewerDisplayName":"Karen Y","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Residents and Families First","reviewContent":"The staff are persistent to make transition of new residents to be successful. many have been there for years so there is some continuity rather than the staff revolving door we experience at other places. House keeping is responsive to needs. Communication with the family is excellent. The meals seem well planned and so far no complaints from my loved one. So far, I would definitely recommend this facility to others based on 3 months experience. It is family, privately owned . That seems to make a difference on how they deal with staff and residents, and even family compared to a big corporation where leadership defaults to corporate rather than making a decision. ","reviewerDisplayName":"Anonymous","experienceTypeId":4,"experienceTypeName":"I'm a loved one of a resident or client"},{"reviewTitle":"Overall good experience","reviewContent":"My frustration with Tall Oaks is that I don't feel I'm kept up to date on [name removed] medial care. I do get calls from the nurses occasionally (when he's fallen, needs a razor, etc) but I'm not told what happened when he saw the doctor or dentist, etc. I took him to a doctor outside of Tall Oaks because I didn't even know he'd been seen by one at the facility. The meals in the general area were great and [name removed] got his ice cream just like he liked it. The manager there is wonderful. I don't know how the meals are in the memory unit. I've only seen cups of cake, etc. The music program is wonderful. The garden area is nice. [name removed] seems higher functioning than most of the other memory residents and it would be nice if he had a little more area to roam. I'm hoping he'll be able to go to the outside area once the weather is nice enough.
