I have had my mother in my care for [time frame removed] without a break. I took a tour of Anthology of Meridian Hills and was very impressed. My mother had a 30 day respite stay where she was well taken care of, well fed and received the attention she needed in memory care. Her family and friends were always warmly welcomed. I wish this could be a permanent solution for her.

This is the 6th facility, I've been in since 2015, so I have a lot of comparison. It's physically pretty inside. Friendly, kind staff, and nice residents.

The sales experience was good and we were excited about moving mom into this community. However she never did get the proper orientation, and health care concerns that continue to crop up, were not and in some cases still not have been addressed. Messages and need requests to various staff members are not passed on....many things promised but not followed up on. The executive director seems overwhelmed and does not answer emails with the information you are asking for. Overall, It's been very frustrating, but mom is starting to settle in and we are starting to get a bit more response after connecting directly with the director of healthcare. For the most part the individual staff members are very cordial and have started to form a relationship with mom that we feel good about. Leadership and organization could. Be improved. This is a beautiful community and the location is awesome. If you are considering this community just make sure you get all your questions answered up front!

Response from Anthology of Meridian Hills
March 15, 2023The health and well-being of all our residents is our top priority, and we are sorry to hear that your experience was less than exceptional. We are committed to providing quality services and have shared your feedback with our corporate management team for further review.
My 86 year old mother has been receiving excellent care since the current executive director and her team has been in place at Anthology of Meridian Hills. My mom’s care is outstanding and she is treated with sensitivity and dignity. There is an “ sure, we can do that’” attitude with a smile. I recommend the facility highly and without reservation.

I am very pleased with the care my father has received at Anthology Meridian Hills and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a classy, friendly place. The management staff has always been very open to my concerns and have immediately addressed them. The care staff is great and you can tell they really care about my dad. Im very thankful for all they do. Oh, and the food is always good and the homemade soups are amazing.

My relative recently moved into Anthology. #1 the food is good. He was in another spot before Anthology and the food was awful. Anthology also offers shuttle service to and from Doctor appointments, which is unbelievably helpful. The nurses have been spot on with help for my relative. Bottom line is he is comfortable at Anthology and we feel that he is safe 24 hours a day.

Our mother is in Memory Care due to a recent stroke. We are quite pleased with the care mom is receiving and have worked with the staff to upgrade her level of care (main streamed to socialize with assisted living residents). The facility is always clean and the staff members are extremely friendly, helpful, and provide updates and feedback on your loved one.

Response from Anthology of Meridian Hills
February 13, 2023We're thrilled to hear about the positive impact our community is having on your family. The amazing people living and working here truly make it feel like home, one where all our residents can be comfortable. Thank you so much for the positive feedback!
I am not pleased with this Memory Care Facility..... when we first put our our loved one in the facility back in [date removed] things were great! When the new Director [name removed] came in [date removed] the facility went downhill! She is a horrible person and should not be an executive director. I'm giving them a 1 across all areas! I would not recommend this facility to anyone entrusting their loved one in their care.

Response from Anthology of Meridian Hills
December 2, 2022We appreciate your candor. Anthology of Meridian Hills is committed to providing nothing short of exceptional service to the residents who call our community home. We’d be glad to discuss the specifics of this review with you, and we hope you’ll reach out to us at information@anthologyseniorliving.com to schedule some time to do so.
I'd rate Friendliness, Care Services, Staff, and Value for the Cost all a '0' or negative if I could. Especially the new director. She's not open to starting a dialog for valid criticism. I visit my mom daily, 6 out of 7 days or nights a week, so I am there a lot. The only 2 things (besides walking) that my mom cannot do is get off the toilet and into bed. They'll leave her on the toilet for over an hour. They often don't answer when residents buzz for help. I will say, there are SOME good helpful staff. If they all saw the benefit of working together here, things IMHO would be better. For example, they move the nurses around throughout the facility which isn't like some bigger places with different units. This means the nurses constantly have to know/learn how to best deal w/ residents. And vice versa. The nurses don't like being shifted around, & the residents like knowing the nurses who handle their care. This breaks apart collaboration & causes both sides (except management) problems in knowing best how to communicate w/ each other. Again, this is just my opinion, but it keeps relationships between resident & nursing from forming. According to long-time residents, that aspect of care is gone. The nursing station is usually empty especially at night. It's a shame b/c there are great nurses & aides who work hard & do best to help the residents, showing true care & compassion. The night nurse throws things, tells my mom she does not need to take her PRN RX, & is mean. My mom takes usually 1 Vicodin a day but can take every 8 hours PRN. She's still denied that med & given extra strength Tylenol. She's yelled at me about it. I had her see her family Dr b/c medically he knows her best, but not recently. My mom is not trying to get multiple RXs from different doctors, but her doctor & as her daughter, I want to ensure if she DOES ask for one, how it best can be assured she gets one. So there's no drug-seeking behavior or dishonesty. The new director immediately began raising care levels & pricing, cutting staff, cutting back on quality food, & more. They won't turn the place around that way, & I'll be curious to see how long they can stay afloat w/ out just money problems or something a lot worse. If my mom had not been yanked around by my sister, I would change facilities. Many long-time residents are talking about moving & the dining room & hallway are full of gossip about the drastic change in quality for specific & all around things. The director demanded I call my mom's Atty, claimed I had made no payments, wanted to raise rates before even a cursory introduction & when I asked based on what, she said oxygen. My mom was on oxygen at the previous facility. It's in her care notes/chart. There was a tank in her room, so this was not new. Now she's raising it b/c my mom has leg wounds (no infection, all care handled by outsource provider, & I take her to specialist). No one at Anthology needs to do anything different (or at most minimal things) b/c they are not treating. Again from Director. I'd ask if holding that title gave her permission to lie at will, change terms all ready agreed upon, drive one of the better high-ranked facilities rep into the ground, all to save the mighty dollar. The patients aren't seeing or benefitting from any new or cracked down on policies. Most disturbing besides comment about my mother is the lack of staff. I would say they are having financial problems & rather elevate the facility to what it's supposed to be known for--quality care, services, food, etc.--the nursing staff are overworked & angry & taking it out on staff. Thank you for listening to my comments. Changes can happen in an instant, so it's often something, as a child or other caregiver, hasn't really thought about & aren't (from what I've seen) very prepared.

Anthology's staff was not very friendly and the person we set up a tour with was a no show and no one else was available for us. We did not go back after being turned away.
Anthology of Meridian Hills is an absolutely beautiful facility. It is private pay and was quite expensive. It also did not seem like they were very well staffed from what I could tell.

May 20, 2022Thank you for your review! We are pleased to read of your recent experience at Anthology of Meridian Hills. We are happy you have found us and welcome you to share your experience with family and friends.
The memory care is in adequate. This review is not for the nursing home. Staff makes threats to family members if patient's behavior is too much for them to handle. Some of the nurses and staff are wonderful but are so short staffed it's hard for them to care for everyone.

Anthology was wonderful until they changed management within the last year. It has now become horrible. They are understaffed and use many temporary staff, which are not well trained. I echo the above review concerning Alzheimer's. My husband and I were given many reassurances, but in the end, there were almost daily calls about how they could not handle behaviors. There were vague insinuations that my father in law would be kicked out. We had to change hospice agencies and the new agency informed us that they walked in to him covered in stool and appearing in pain. Both of my in laws were there, but we moved my mother in law due to repeated falls and their requirement that we hire an independent aide. She was not being well cared for. The final straw came when they sent the wrong person to the new facility where we were transferring my mother in law!!! I am so unhappy with the new management. My father in law died and the person who was staffing the memory care unit had no idea that he died (she asked us if we had asked my father in law for his permission before we entered his room to remove his belongings.) We are still waiting for any sort of condolences from the executive director. (He called and asked where we wanted a reimbursement check sent without even a sorry for your loss.) Please don't use this facility for your loved ones

My dad was at this facility over the summer. We finally moved him somewhere else with people who have access to memory care training. There were some wonderful nurses and CNAs but not every was as patient with my dad. When we took him to his newest facility Anthology gave us his belongings and they were covered in urine and poop. I hope that facility either finds better memory care training or stops advertising for their memory care program.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
