Assisted living communities provide apartment-style housing and social events as well as individualized care. Assisted living communities often offer chances for leisurely activity, care supervision, and assistance with appointments and transit. Oregon Department of Human Services, Office of Licensing and Regulatory Oversight regulates this type of community. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to make sure their needs are going to be met. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include health services, maximize physical functioning, assist psychosocial wellbeing, and 24-hour emergency care service. Staff members obtain training in a number of subjects. These include: abuse and reporting requirements, the values of community-based care, emergency procedures, and residents’ rights. Public assistance is available through Medicaid Aged and Disabled 1915(c) Waiver program. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 6. There is a maximum occupancy of 1 residents per room. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include must provide three meals a day and all food must be in accordance with the Department of Agriculture food pyramid.
