Discover the many ways to pay for senior living

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is long-term care for seniors who are generally active and independent, but who require increased supervision and help with some daily tasks. Staff can assist residents with activities of daily living like dressing, bathing, and medication management. Assisted living is also a good option for seniors seeking more socialization. Services and amenities in assisted living facilities often include:

  • Housekeeping
  • Nutritious meals and snacks
  • Help with personal care
  • Laundry
  • Social activities and outings
  • 24-hour emergency response

Arts, Culture, Entertainment, and Recreation

An oasis among the cornfields, Omaha is an all-American town with a Midwest charm. The people of Omaha are kind and likely to strike up a conversation, especially about the weather. For entertainment, there is the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium which is considered one of the best zoos in the world. The zoo is renowned for its conservation efforts and has some of the largest enclosures in the world for desert and nocturnal creatures, which are contained within one of the world’s largest geodesic domes.

For the arts, there is the Holland Performing Arts Center which hosts symphonies, operas, and other performances. One of the most popular destinations in Omaha is the city’s Old Market. Located downtown, the Old Market is the oldest part of the city and is filled with historical buildings, fun shops, and cute restaurants. The streets are all original brick, so good walking shoes are a must. The city is also filled with tons of restaurants that serve the iconic Omaha steaks. On almost every block of the city you can find a good burger or steak cooked by people who know their beef.

Outdoor lovers will find the Pedestrian Bridge which spans across the Missouri River, connecting Omaha to Council Bluffs, Iowa. The state of Nebraska does not have any professional sports teams, so college ball is a huge deal in Omaha. For baseball, the College World Series is held every year in the city. The Cornhusker football games in nearby Lincoln draw big crowds from Omaha while the city’s own Creighton University Blue Jays have over twenty appearances at the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball tournament.
