An assisted living facility is a residential living community which provides aid, care, and support to independent individuals who are not in need of skilled nursing care. These include emergency response systems, medication reminders, assistance with activities of daily living, and security. Public assistance is available through A Medicaid 1915(c) waiver called the Supported Living Program and a 1915(b) waiver called the Managed Long-Term Services and Supports program.This facility type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include medication administration, supervision of self-administered medications, and only a licensed health care professional employed by the facility may administer medications. Staff members obtain training in a number of fields. These include: choice, job responsibilities and limitations, promotion of dignity, and privacy.
