Unfortunately, my tour was limited because Jennifer wasn't available on Sat. This is a Glatt Kosher residence - no cream for coffee if meat was served. Rooms were more spacious than most of the others & they did some nice renovations. Great, large fish tank to watch in lobby.

Nice place, but not working out well for Mom

Things just aren't working out well for my Mother here. It's a nice looking, clean facility, and the aides are all very friendly, but she just isn't happy. She needs the highest level of care they provide, which unfortunately means she is stuck on the floor with all of the dementia patients. She is all there mentally and has nobody to socialize with. They've offered to move her to another floor, but then she would not be able to receive the same level of care. Another issue that we have is that they strictly observe Sabbath, so when I visit on Saturday I'll often find all the residents on her floor just sitting in the TV room staring at the wall. They need to have some options for less observant members of the community.

I thought the place was a nice place.

I thought the place was a nice place. He originally made a good adjustment to it. They were very quick to send him to the hospital for precautionary purposes. The person in charge of the floor was good.

Not Much To Do

My sister is so much worse there than she was. I don't want to blame them for that. She has a debilitating disease but there seems to be very little for them to do there. She just walks around the hallways all day long. Since she's been there she's stopped eating. I'm sure it's not because of their food. They're very nice to her. I have no complaints aobut the staff there. There is just one large dining room which they can sit in during the day and no one really talks, they just sit there. And the room smells because most of them wear diapers. I'm not blaming the people there but I just think the facility doesn't offer them enough. I'm unhappy with it and she doesn't talk much but she's unhappy too.

Only Adequate Care Service

It was helpful because they had a private room in the memory care area for my loved one. We wanted to keep him in his neighborhood for his friends and it was less expensive than some other communities in the area. As far as the assistance for my loved one the staff wasn't helping him with daily living activities. The community pushed for us to get a private aid and the aid was doing everything that the staff should have been doing. This was not helpful for my loved one to not have someone consistent to help him. The food was horrible. It appears the community is understaffed.

At the present time I will give a fair review

My mom has been at Signature Senior Living for 2 weeks now. At first everything seems ok, but then she developed swelling in her ankles, which then spread to her legs. We felt that the doctor there was not interested enough and we therefore took mom to her own doctor. She got medication, which she has to take for 5 days to help reduce the selling.

That level of care wasn't there for my father's condition.

It didn't work out. My father only spent 3 days and we have been over charged. My father needed certain medical assistance. They knew of my fathers condition before I placed him there. That level of care wasn't there for his condition. I think if he was able to eat his breakfast on his own, it may have worked. Overall, I am not happy. I wouldn't recommend this place for your loved one if they require a higher level of care.

Administration needs improvement

The nursing staff, orderlies and attendants were great. They were very friendly toward my father. The administration was horrible. There was no communication. If you tried to reach them, they would not get back to you for days. My father fell and got hurt and they failed to notify me. I also felt like the employees could not get their work done because of the administration.

Tour of Signature Senior Living

This was one of the most depressing tours we took. It looks like a converted war building and has no views. The facility itself is in an odd setting and feels dark and depressing when you walk in. I made eye contact with one of the residents and she just shook her head no at me like she was telling me not to put my loved one there. The positive about this facility is that they can help low income families and they take Medicaid to help those who need it. It was definitely not the right fit for my loved one.

The woman who we were supposed to meet for the tour, [name removed] , never showed up. I had 11:00 appointment and called to say we were running 15 minutes late because my father’s aide was late. At 12:00 she was still not there, so the head of maintenance gave us a tour (reluctantly, it seemed). The second star is for securing our decision that this is NOT the right place for my wonderful father. By the way, when we left at 12:30 [name removed] was still not there nor did she call to apologize or see if we had any questions.

The facility seemed very sterile and institutional looking. It had a very strong odor of cleansing materials. Good to know that the facility is clean but it made it smell like a hospital, not a home. The furniture looked old, the walls needed painting, etc. All of the residents I saw were using some sort of walking device (canes, walkers, wheelchairs). My mom does not and I think it would be counter productive for her to see so many people less than mobile. The rooms seemed small and cramped. Lastly, while I know she would have some options available for meals, my mom is a picky eater and a heavily kosher menu would also be a problem for her.

We toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. I just wasn't impressed with what I saw at The Waterford. The rooms were small for the price, and the place just didn't feel very welcoming. The residents we saw didn't look particularly happy, and we also didn't like that there was no secure outdoor area.

I have a friend residing at Waterford on the bay in Brooklyn and sad to say I would not recommend this Facility. When you take your loved ones to these facilities you have to be there to hold them accountable. I can't write a review of the issues that I'm having with my friend because she resides there and I don't want any retaliation against her. I'm really upset about the situation because I chose that facility for her. I've also witness some treatment of her roommate that is not what I would expect for any resident of a assisted living facility. Some of the staff were very unprofessional and I think that housekeeping can do a better job.

I was not impressed with this community. The operation does not appear to be very professional and the staffing seems to be inadequate. Additionally, the semi-private rooms are less than adequate, especially for its rate. In addition, the extra cost for service packages are very high.

We arrived without an appointment but the staff was still able to give us a tour. They were very accommodating. My 88 year old friend and I were not impressed by the size of the rooms or the layout of the facility. It felt like a glorified nursing home.
