He's younger than most, but it's a good place

The Waterford is very nice, my brother in law is young for that place, he's only 65, I wish they had a medium age but there's no place like that. It's good, it's clean, they give you a lot, there's a lot of activities but of course he doesn't participate in them because they're too old. He has dementia and he has diabetes and they don't call and let me know health things about him. I don't know how assisted livings are supposed to work with that, but that's the only thing. The giving of vitamins is really costly, I can go buy them for him and I've told them but there's so many doctors and nursing I don't think it goes anywhere. I think they're just changing their staff now for some reason. It's in a beautiful location, it's close to me and it was the water that sold him.

Signature senior living review

Overall the staff is very friendly, but I wish that they were a little more responsive and better with communication. Sometimes I reach out and it takes them a while to get back to me. The issues I bring up are not always addressed in the correct manner. They are very caring and friendly, when I am there visiting I see them interacting well with all of the residents.

The Signature Senior Living was nice, but they could not meet my husband's needs. They did not have a locked dementia unit which is what we were looking for, it was not for him.

Overall she is doing well and getting very good care.

Overall she is doing well and getting very good care. The staff seem to be pretty friendly, and responsive to issues we brought up. The toilets were a little low, so we had to get a riser, we had assumed they would be taller. A shared room can be a difficult adjustment. It was very nice, and due to the proximity, and they didn't have that nursing home/hospital smell, the furniture was more up to date, and it was bright. The prices were all comparable.

Struggle

My husband was there for over two years in memory care. I hired private care as well. His window was not sealed properly and it rained in on his rug. They would not change the rug nor fix the window which they promised to do, On the day he died that night there was a torrential rain. It’s true he was in the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease but since I was unable to be there that day I don’t know how bad the rain affected the room. Also, once I was gone they refused to give me the letter I requested for a possible health insurance claim. They gave me a letter from the Medicaid Coordinator. They have yet to refund the last months fee which they promised to. They don’t return calls. Never send any note expressing condolence. Cold people, I am very disappointed and do not recommend this facility, on the other hand I have no complaints about the hospice care and aides he had. I hope they will at least give me the paper work and refund soon.

Looks beautiful from the outside. But don't judge a book by its cover.

I was not impressed with The Waterford. The care was below average. I was disappointed in what they had available for activities. Family is not allowed to go into the dining room to eat with their loved ones. The food they brought to her room did not look good. I took my mom out of there after a couple of weeks. It was a bit cheaper than where she's at now, but you get what you pay for.

Mom and I toured this community and it was ok. It was closer to home than some of the others. We just didn't care for the set up, not exactly what we were looking for.

Needs improvements

I found that some of the aids were kind of rough with the residents -especially my loved one. As far as I could see the activities for people in the memory care unit were different from the rest of the community and they were not able to participate at all. I don't feel that communication between the staff and family of the residents was very good - they could definitely improve on that. They communicated very well in the beginning but once we got in it was very hard to get a hold of anyone. The renovated the rooms but not the bathrooms and those definitely need updated. The location is great and it has potential.

The Waterford On The Bay

There were several outside vendors that would come in and really connected with the residents. The community was always very clean and the staff is all very friendly. We always saw the staff interacting with the residents and they really seemed to care for them, although it seemed like they could have used a few more care givers. For us, we were with our mother-in-law every day, so we were always able to help attend to her. They did a good job with her care, although if your loved one needed a high level of attention they were a little light. The staff, however, is tremendous and our overall experience here was positive. The food is very ok. It was better when my mother-in-law first got there, but after a change in the kitchen staff, it was not quite as good. The community itself is beautiful and right on the water. They were also receptive to us bringing in outside aids to help her with things like physical therapy.

The rooms here were also somewhat small and tight. Somewhat brighter than The Waterford but still a little gloomy and institutional looking. Not sure this would be a good fit for my mother either. Also, no parking for visitors is a major problem.

Not A Good Experience

We did not have a good experience here at this community. At the moment my mother is in the hospital, and they have not even called me to see how she is doing. I felt the staff looked at my mother as a burden. They were not attentive at all, and would her a hard time whenever she asked for something. The care they provide needs improvements. They are mainly concerned about the money and not her well being.

The food is the biggest problem.

My mother is not happy with it. The food is the biggest problem. I went to go have dinner with my mother once, and it was just terrible. I got sick on that food. The vegetables were mushy. The chicken was hard as a rock. I have to have take-out brought to my mother. It's suppose to be full time care but it doesn't seem like it. They haven't showered her in a week. It seems like they are always looking for tips.

The dining room for the 5th floor is like a back room somewhere that put tables upon tables with no appeal and crowded. Also the movies they play are all the same every day. Tom Jones show. My mother needs some stimulation. Food can be better.
