Mom loves it at Parsons House

We, my mom especially, are very pleased with Parsons House. Jessica was the primary person we worked with and she's wonderful. She and Shane helped us quickly and with great care. Mom was excited to move to Parsons. Her room is lovely and homey with her favorite furniture, and she loves the food. We hope she will take advantage of the tremendous programs offered every day, and makes great friends with other residents who were so friendly during our visits.

Parsons House-why go anywhere else?

Moved my Dad into Parsons House, a week ago today. He likes his room, it is one of the smallest they have, but is quite roomy for him. He loves the food, and the cleanliness. Dad has never been very social, but is starting to come out of his room for a few activates. He is a Retired Marine, and there a quite a few former military there. After visiting a few other Assisted Living Facilities, I toured Parsons House. What a difference, nothing fancy, just good clean facilities with a very friendly caring staff. Parsons is less expensive then most but you would never know it. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone.

attitude of the staff has been really good

At Parsons House Preston Hollow I am pleased with the overall condition and appearance of the facility. The general attitude of the staff has been really good. There have been a few hiccups of staff forgetting some things but that is to be expected some. Overall the experience has been good.

Friendly, accommodating staff

I think they do a very good job at Parsons House, they really helped us out in our time of need. We had a very limited amount of time to conduct our search in, and the staff here really went out of their way helping us through the process and getting our loved one settled in quickly. I also appreciate that they were willing to start us off on a short term trial basis! The facility itself is well kept and clean, and they seem to be doing an excellent job looking after their residents.

Mother truly thrived during her time ...

Mother truly thrived during her time at Parson House Austin. She made new friends and participated in many of the wealth of activities offered. She (and we) thought the food was especially good, and the kitchen staff worked hard to meet her special dietary needs. The entire staff was friendly and hard-working. Parson House was a blessing.

New Resident

Our friend has just moved in so we have little first-hand experience yet. However, Jessica, the marketing director, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Residents seem happy and many of them spontaneously greeted and welcomed us. So we have high hopes of our friend being happy and well cared for.

Would recommend Parsons House to others

My parents chose here primarily because of the staff and the proximity to their home. To be honest, in the beginning things were very good, but then for about 2 weeks we had an issue with two employees that were dropping the ball on insurance stuff and doctor's appointments. Those employees were terminated and we've come full circle. The problem has been resolved and we haven't had any more issues which is why I'd be comfortable recommending Parsons House.

Would Definitely Recommend

I would recommend them. The staff are very caring. Probably the biggest problem that we've had is medication management. With the pharmacy that they use, our loved one's medications are more expensive than they were at the pharmacy we used previously. And when medications change, they require paperwork from the doctor. Sometimes the doctors are not very responsive, and while that's not Parson's fault, changes don't happen as quickly as they need to because of the paperwork aspect. Upper management has had some turnover as well, which was concerning at first. But in some cases, the replacements have been better than the people who were there to start with. I will say it's a smaller place, so the residents don't get lost. It's private. It's in a great location that feels like it's in the country, with lots of trees all around. My love done doesn't care for the food, but she can be kind of picky. They do have quite a lot of activities going on every week.

I love that this community is family-owned and some of the staff have been there either since the beginning or shortly after. There doesn't seem to be the turnover that there is some other places. The beauty shop and movie theater are great, and I like the family dining room they have for when their residents "have company." I met the Exec Director who was very nice. The marketing director did not use high pressure but tried to show how they are like a family, and it really seems like it is. I saw residents gathered to watch TV, play games, talk, etc. Everyone known everyone's names. It is Christ-centered which is a plus. Things I didn't like were the floor plans are all studios. Some division between living and bedroom, even if just a short wall, would make it feel less like a hospital room or hotel room. They seemed fairly small, even the large and deluxe rooms because they are studios. Bathrooms were nice. Cable and phone are not included. The outdoor area I saw in back was a gazebo and some gardening areas. No courtyards in the middle for residents to sit an enjoy outside their rooms. What this lacked in shiny, new decor, it made up for in warmth. My tour guide seemed genuine, and not just like she was trying to sell me a room. I just wish it was closer to where I live. And I wish the cost was a little less.

Retro living in North Austin

We chose Parsons House Independent and Assisted Living because my parents had a friend who lived here, so they felt more comfortable. Everybody was very friendly here. It is an older facility that is a little bit run down. Because it is an older building, the elevators aren't very great, so anyone who is afraid of elevators or is not very mobile probably would not like it here. The facility also does not really have an outdoor space, they have a nice front porch but that is it. They do have a little cage with finches in it, so if you are into birds you can sit there and watch them. Overall, I would recommend.

Great place

It is a fantastic place but there was a lack of communication. It seemed like they would wait for last minute to notify us of when she would run out of medications and when she was moving out. The caregivers were fantastic. My mother was well taken care of her. I chose this community because of its location being close to our family. I would absolutely recommend this community to other families.

A great place to live

There was frequent turnover of the staff and lack of communication between staff members from shift to shift. This made it difficult on the residents and the family members. We chose this community because the location is close to my house, I know some of the other resident, it was diverse, and I liked the different amenities that they offered. Also, it was clean and the halls were very pretty.

Loved it. My sister in law is only 60, but needs to be in assisted for her meds. The Independent and Assisted is totally mingled, so I think the chances of people being closer to her age are greater than in just an Assisted facility. Sooooo many activities going on. Think she could be happy there. Not a great location from where I live and need to see if we can make the numbers work. Met the owner and love that it's family owned!

Excellent Staff Care!!

The staff care at this place has been excellent, they are always attentive to my mothers needs and stay in good communication with me about her care. She has had no complaints about the meals and enjoys participating in activities from time to time with the other residents. Overall we are very pleased and would recommend it to anyone interested.

Tour and care

We toured this community. It was a distance from our home. We did like a staff that did answer the questions that we had on the care that was given. The activities are offered to all of the residents. This community seemed small from others. We would recommend that families tour this community

Very nice people!!

The Parsons House Austin was a nice place. The lady, [Removed], was awesome. We met on a Sunday and she spent hours taking me around introducing me to residents. With my mom, there are certain triggers that I would know she would not have been happy with about the place. First one was the parking lot was uneven and mom would have never gotten through the front door. The building needed new painting and it was dark.
