A great place for respite care!!

Mom enjoyed her respite stay at Parsons House. The staff did a good job of taking care of her. The food was really good. The location of the community was not what she wanted or we may have chosen this community for her to live at. I would recommend this community.

very happy!

Ainsley Courte Assisted Living (now called Parsons House) is the only place that I have experience with my mother (who has been hospitalized several times in the last year) where the administrative staff and caregivers all work together as a team, know what is going on, and really work together to give mom the best care in a way that we have not seen at other places. The place is very clean and mom is doing as well as can be. We are very happy!

I liked that this felt more like a hotel than a nursing home.

They have been very helpful as far as getting her in there. The food has been good every time I have tried it, and from what I can tell they have a very good variety. It's still a good idea to be around, and pay attention to your family member, to make sure things are done the way you want it to be. They have been very cooperative to work with, and quick to respond, they are open to suggestions or concerns. I liked that this felt more like a hotel than a nursing home. There are always people around, and bustling activity.

We enjoyed our tour and meeting Shane. PH is more relaxed, less formal than Emeritus. The efficiency apt has a small kitchenette with a stove, which my dad had really wanted to cook his eggs in the morning. The smoking area comfy. Lots of residents out and about, friendly staff, smelled great. We're going to bring Dad in for a visit. This may be the one! Shane hooked us up with an organization to help us sort out the VA benefit, which will be crucial.

My experience at the Parsons House Preston Hollow

My mother and father-in-law are current residences of the Parsons House, and they have been there for about three months. One is in assisted living and one is in the memory care unit. Mine own mother is in another elder care facility in their memory care unit, and she has been there for four plus years; however, my experiences with both facilities have been quite different. Even though the Parson House may not have all the decorative "bells and whistles" in the common areas that other facilities have, the homey feeling of the facility makes up for that in spades. It just feels more like a home, not an apartment building or hotel. Currently, I pay just about the same amount of money per month for my mother, who's in the fancier place, as I pay for both of my in-laws at the Parsons House so it has been a great bang for the buck. I also feel my in-laws are getting over-all better care than my mother receives. I would move her to the Parsons House, but she is in the latter stages of her dementia and it's not worth making such a big change. My husband and I have actually gotten to know several of the care givers on a first name basis a first name basis at Parsons. The Parsons staff doesn't seem to change over as rapidly as the other elder care facility which is comforting to us and our parents. I never know who is caring for my own mother from day to day......I'm not to keen on that. The management is wonderful at Parsons House as it's run by a husband and wife team and they are very "hands on" where as the more expensive facility where my mother is, is run much more corporately making problems and concerns more difficulty to resolve. All in all, I have been very happy with the Parsons House Preston Hollow and have recommended it to others looking for a great elder care experience.

Friendly Community, Good Value

Parsons House staff are all very kind and friendly. They genuinely care about the residents and family members and are never too busy to help. The residents are also very friendly to newcomers and there is always something going on. The apartments are spacious compared to the independent living community Mom came from. The food is above average for a facility like this. Mom has fairly significant dementia, but doesn't wander or become agitated and she is doing very well there. The staff was very skilled at transitioning her to her new environment, which was very hard on her.

Parsons House Preston Hollow is home!

Parsons House Preston Hollow on Northwest Highway in Dallas is a small Assisted Living and Memory Care facility, with about 60 apartments, and as of 2014 has approximately 45 residents. The House is small enough to feel like "home." Numerous common areas: dining room, living areas, game room/library, room for chair exercises and lectures, beauty salon. Because this is a smaller facility, there are not as many amenities; however, the residents get more personal attention from the staff than provided in large facilities. All employees are friendly and professional. They seem to love the residents! The food is served as a set menu, but the chef makes substitutions for resident preferences. The meals I have eaten there as a guest are delicious. Apartments range from 300 to 500+ square feet. The nursing staff monitors the resident's abilities and adjusts the care levels as necessary. Your loved one will not get lost in the crowd at Parsons House.

Parson's House is Really Wonderful

Is there a six? We called around and it seems like every place has a different cost. The cost varies on levels of care. Parsons is as reasonable as any and much more than some. It seems like the proper array of care. They do a really good interface with the services they provide and home health. They work really well together. There is a lot of large and small group activities. You have to do bingo or you are not a facility! They have some intellectually stimulating games with facts and dates and things from the past. They even have birthday parties and it is really nice. The food is great!

Nice facility. Lunch was very tasty, good variety and portions. One bedroom has a very nice layout. Large living room, wall separated kitchenette, large bedroom with large walk-in closet. Bar hangers rather high, difficult for wheel chair bound person to reach. Would need to be adjusted down. Nice bathroom with walk-in bath. No linen closet. Small closet in entryway with Water Heater in it also - No shelves for storage. Guest rooms for guests or temporary stay while room is prepared, furniture moved in.

Tour of Parsons House

I toured Parsons House Austin, as it was close to me. A friend told me that it's not fancy, but Parsons House seemed like more of a stereotypical old folks home. When you walk in, you kind of walk into their living area. It looked a little bit sad, small and old. The people were really nice, but it was not a good fit.

A good home away from home

It is a high quality assisted living home. The director works hard to respond to any requests. If I had to offer any criticism, Ithink that for the amount that I am paying, everything should be included. My father in law is very shy and requires encouragement to attend activities , which we feel should be included. The staff are courteous and pleasant in their approach. They have done a really good in during the corona virus by following strict safety protocol.. It is a nicer community then many we visited in the area.
