Not a place that we were impressed with. The staff seemed friendly enough, but the facility had seen better days. Reminded me too much of a nursing home.

GO IN THIS PLACE WITHOUT THE APPOINTMENT TO SEE HOW THINGS REALLY ARE!! BEWARE!!

My first impression was they really try to make it seem that the care will be topnotch , I watched the staff slowly disappear in a matter of weeks. From the Billing office to the HR to the Memory Care Director and several CNA's !! We are now on a Lockdown and have been for two weeks yet they just began posting the pics on facebook about a loved one or two?? I am told nothing except a call that we cant visit??? Out loved one has dementia and this is now a problem because we can call and the phone just rings on the weekend!! Our loved one barely knew us prior to DROPPING into this place of care! I am not impressed with the Administrator or the team in place . The unit managers are a joke! I The Social Worker was on suspension after a few weeks We tried to get answers on questions NOTHING! This is the worse thing we did to our Parent I cannot wait for the Governor to release this law of contact WE WILL BE DISCHARGING ASAP! WE are looking everyday!

So Sad how we treat our elderly

My Mother is currently at this facility and we are not able to move her yet again or we would. Some of the staff is very nice and caring others are not. They really pay no attention to the basic needs of a patient. My Mother is often left in soiled pants and staff is very reluctant to answer simple questions and they become very defensive. Like when was the last time she was changed. I think they are over worked and more staff is needed to provide the proper care for the residents. I feel staff is not trained to deal with the circumstances of day to day living for the residents. I get the impression the staff feels since the resident has no clue it doesn't matter what they look like.

STAY AWAY

At first glance, this facility seems like the ideal place for your loved one. However, don't be fooled. This place operates like a "good ole boy" network except with females in charge. Even the workers know it. The CNA's, night & weekend nurses are wonderful. I'll stop there. Don't try to complain, you won't get anywhere. It is very degrading to call patients by nicknames that were not given to them by friends or family members. Also, not professional to "taunt" elderly patients. If your loved one questions the status quo, watch out! Not all seniors are lemmings. As a private pay, their price was reasonable but you get what you pay for....

Unfriendly staff members

My mother in her 90s lived there for 4 years and some of the staff was never friendly although a few were very friendly and displayed genuine concern. The resident doesn't want to be there, their family members don't want them there, but they have to stay there and this has to become their new home. I worked with the staff for 4 years trying to make my mother comfortable and take care of her needs, reminding them. A couple of days after my mother died, my granddaughter and I went in to get her things out of her room, and the same nurses who were unfriendly but had been involved in care plan meetings with me still didn't speak to me or acknowledge me or say any kind of condolences or how are you doing, and they acted as if nothing had happened. At the same time other nurses were very caring and expressive in condolences. The activities staff was always very caring and friendly. This facility claims to be a place where you can be happy and get the best care. But you have to continually check on your family member and keep after the CNAs to take care of them. However, this probably is still one of the best in the area. It is hard to get good care.

Our Experience

The staff smile to your face and talk about you behind your back. They are, at ties, mean to the residents. Housekeeping was poor, at best. They only clean the rooms once a week. They don't clean the carpets, that is left to the family. Communication was iffy, at best. It really depended on who was there. The weekend staff was wonderful! Move in seemed to go okay. The meals were very bland. They were not offered snacks throughout the day. Family provided those. They could actually care about the people who are living there and not worry about money so much. Be honest with the family when they are looking for someplace to put their loved ones.

Myriad of Issues - Emergency Removed Her

During the less than 6 months my mother was at this facility she had urine-related skin breakdown from being left in we briefs for extended periods and we often found her in a puddle of urine. The skin on her feet were allowed to dry to the point of cracking and had pressure sores both of which are dangerous to diabetics. She lost weight and had dehydration issues due to lack of assistance with feeding and hydration. Myself and outside agencies witnessed her being yelled at and she was made to feel unwelcome and without dignity.

Nightmare at Aspen

our mother went there from the hospital for "rehabilitation". she had a fractured back and was unable to get out of bed or care for herself. After being there for a few days she was placed in a quarantined room because, we were told, she had covid. Her food was delivered to her on a disposable tray and usually placed outside her reach with no one to help her eat or drink. they would just throw the tray away and replace it with the next tray when it came. we found her soiled most days when we came. after she was removed from quarantine to a regular room she was still vomiting and having diarrhea. she could hardly eat by this time and so was placed on a soft diet-which she never received. we came the day after christmas to find our mom lying in a massive amount of green, smelly stool-which no one seemed to notice, so we cleaned her up. we had her transferred the next day to the hospital where she was found to be severely dehydrated, with diverticulitis and a uti.

Aspen Trace - Review

My loved one stayed at Aspen Trace for rehabilitation following a hospital stay. This family member was found several times connected to an oxygen machine that was either not plugged in to the wall or attached to a portable one which had run out of oxygen. My loved one also experienced a genital rash due to lack of bathing. My family was told bathing and physical rehab is regularly scheduled and often neither were completed. It was extremely difficult to request a chest x-ray, etc. when it was clear our loved one was suffering from a chest infection/pneumonia. There was an extremely long wait once the call button was pushed, likely due to lack of staffing. The food was horrible and was usually delivered whole (if at all), not following the mechanical soft (pureed), physician ordered preparation. When my family requested help from the front desk staff, nurses, or aides., it was as though you are inconveniencing them and an annoyance. Beware of using this facility for you or your family.

Disappointing

Faciiity has trouble retaining employees. Food is not the best quality. Activities are hit or miss, as they have trouble retaining activities employees as well as bus drivers. Employees complain to residents about work condtions etc., and some do not always treat them respectfully. Appearance is nice, but management needs to be better

Scared for others

They almost let my mother die through neglect. They were understaffed, however the worst part was their incompetence and lack of knowledge on medical procedures and lack of care of/for their patients. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Do your research before sending your loved one's to Copper Trace.

AVOID!

I only give this place one star because it won't let me give it zero stars. Do not put your loved one at this facility. I am a current resident at this facility, and I know first hand the poor care that is provided. Extremely insufficiently staffed. The social services department has covered up cases of abuse. I witnessed this myself! The food is terrible and served to the resident like it is slop. The administration is not truthful to the families and especially to the residents. Their staffing is 1 nurse to 25 patients all of the time. This means that your loved one will have to share one nurse with 24 other patients. They send CNAs home after working only four hours leaving only one CNA to put 25+ people to bed.

I was very displeased with Copper Trace. This tour was scheduled two weeks in advance. When I arrived, I had to go to 3 separate entrances before I found a live body. I had 2 elderly women who were to tour the facility - one on a walker and one in a wheelchair. I was told we were not expected and there was no one there who was able to speak with us. And, oh by the way, we are full occupancy and have no open units anyway. This is very poor customer service. The environment may be all sparkly and pristine but their customer service is a joke.
