Independent Living

For those who wish to live primarily without personal assistance but wish for the benefit of having chores and housekeeping taken care of by professionalls, an Independent Living Community could be the perfect fit. Frequent needs such as meal planning and the scheduling of social activities are accounted for, which permits seniors more free time to live life as they see fit. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and backgrounds. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between locations, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. If medical or nursing care is desired, residents may always enlist the services of independent care providers. There are a variety of expenditures and advantages to balance while selecting an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these services are covered in the service plan: Waiting list deposit, utilities, parking, laundry, transportation, private phone, initial assessment fee, and housekeeping.
