The apartments are fine, but I would NOT recommend the memory care. My father was in the Ivy cottage and they did not have a concave bed or mat by his bed and he rolled out of his bed and broke his hip. While he was wheelchair bound before this experience, the trauma of breaking his hip has caused him to actively die. I'm thinking about suing them for not taking the proper precautions. My anger is compounded because they are rude and insisted that we hire someone 24 hours a day to take care of him because of the broken hip that they are responsible for. Then they are still charging $290 a day because they are giving him medication still and won't lower his level of care. When I asked why the nurse that we have there 24 hours a day couldn't give the meds, they replied "because she's not an employee here." Such a scam.

I think the Village of Westland is a very nice place overall. It's a clean, well kept facility, and the staff is friendly and professional. My loved one was very reluctant to move to a senior community, and the staff here worked very hard to try to help him get settled in. They are definitely worth a look if you're searching for senior living in the area!

BED BUGS INVASION! Manager [removed] leaves her post every day and doesn't come back. She shirks her duties and passes jobs off to other employees who have no idea how to do the jobs. Filthy conditions.

My Dad is very happy there. The staff is wonderful, the facility is always clean and the other residents are a joy to be around. The activities are fun and the food is even decent.

It's been great. They have more storage space than anybody we looked at. There is a pull down with steps, and there is storage above the bathrooms, with a huge amount of space. It's in a good location for us. They have a good variety in the food. They were very comparable to other places. It is an older building, but pretty well maintained. They have a larger exercise room than other places.

The staff and care services are excellent. Everyone is kind and caring. It is not a fancy or upscale facility, but it feels like home. We highly recommend the Village of Westland.

So far it's going pretty good, it's kept pretty clean. The staff is mixed some are very friendly and nice, and some just come and do their job and go home. Anything I have had questions about has been good. There is one issue that hasn't really been improved and that is that they have a main dining room and then some smaller ones in the enhanced living side. For the one that my loved one uses, lunch is supposed to be at 12 and dinner at 5, they will go and get them at 11:45 and they don't get served until 12:30 sometimes, and they haven't done much to prevent that. Their time is valuable too, 45 minutes is a long time to wait. They have enough activities. That's really the only thing I have seen that I don't like that. She just loves her outdoor area. The apartments are very nice lots of storage. I think it's a pretty good value.

They are a pretty nice place. It's clean and the staff is friendly. They are responsive. The food varies, some nights are better than others, overall the food is a four. This was one of the more affordable places we saw for two people. We also liked the location.

Their enhanced living would be the kind my mom would be getting. It seemed a little cramped in that area to me and pricing was right at the top of her income as well.

The staff is universally wonderful.....friendly, initiative taking, and very personable w. both residents and families. Being a non-profit(Presbyterian), creates a sense of confidence that client is not being neglected to produce profits/divedends for business. THREE types of accomodations are available allowing adapting to needs of each resident.....rather than cookie-cutter sameness. The layout is all on one floor and each unit has a patio or screened porch. A van does regular trips to grocery stores/farmers markets and occasionally nearby community events. Special holiday dinners and summer picnics create variety in the very balanced and well prepared meals. If needed, additional ala carte services such as medication monitoring are available. On the campus is a separate dedicated building for advanced dementia clients and a hospice building - avoiding the need for uprooting anyone as condition changes. IF I ever need assisted living, I would be happy to live here!

The sales manager and other staff we met were very helpful and seemed to really understand our situation and concerns. They had some very helpful suggestions for helping our loved one with her decision. The facility was clean and very homey. Residents we encountered were friendly and seemed very happy.

The value is pretty good. The cost includes one meal a day. I would say the meals are a 4. My mother hasn't used much of the care yet. There were just a couple of times where the staff has done laundry upon request but she hasn't needed any assisted living yet. My mo can't really do stairs so Village of Westland is good because it's all on one level. The staff has been really good and it's a very safe and secure environment for my mother.

I was looking for a place for my friend and it was a toss up between this place and and Ashford Court. What it came down to was that Ashford Court was closer to the hospital where my friend's doctor had privledges so we chose that one. Village of Westland was very nice - a close second.
