About the facility
The Reutlinger Community

Welcome to The Reutlinger Community, we are a non profit senior living community that is proud to offer a true continuum of care that really does allow you to age in place. The Reutlinger Community started in 1950 as The Home For Jewish Parents in Oakland, California serving those with skilled nursing needs. In 1996 we opened our doors in the beautiful rolling hills Danville, California. Once we moved we were also able to serve a larger population of people and care needs. Now as The Reutlinger Community, we have 4 levels of care, Assisted Living, Enhanced Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing including short term rehabilitation. Our staff members and programs are really what sets us a apart from the rest, combined we have over 100 years of experience in senior care. We have activity directors and programs dedicated to every level of care to provide activities all day 7 days a week. We are a 5 star campus that has been voted 'Best in the Bay'. As an individual and non-profit campus we have had to work extra to keep our 5 stars and are happy to do so. In the area you will find plenty of...

Reutlinger - Not Recommended
Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the other reviewers. My mother has lived at Reutlinger in Assisted Living for more than 3 years. During that time, the organization has experienced much staff turnover, reduced its activities program and is generally poorly managed. I can't recommend Reutlinger at this time.

Friendly and super helpful staff.
The staff are totally friendly, super helpful in every situation. When I've have long term care concerns, or there was a smell in my mother's room, all it takes it one comment about it and they jump on it. It's very clean. Each unit has their own activities director and lots of activities going on, and the residents are able to go to other units and participate in activities there as well. The food is good, but they do serve a lot of fish and my mom is not a fish eater. They have really good desserts.

My mother in law has been a resident there in skilled nursing for almost a year now. We have been in the other local Rehab centers and they do not even come close to this facility. She is loved, well cared for, included in most of the activities that she can handle. They keep her well groomed and provide any type of service that you could think of. She is kept clean, fed good, cared for exceptionally and there is no other place that I would put a family member then here.

Tips for evaluating your community options

Safety is a primary concern when seniors and their families look for Assisted Living. To ensure that a community meets your needs and expectations, we recommend that seniors and family members:

  • Tour the location: Touring allows you to speak to current residents and staff, and helps you confirm the accuracy of the community description and photos. Use our touring checklist to help guide your visit.

  • Confirm the availability of required services: Before you commit, make sure that the community offers all the services your senior needs, and that those services can be provided within your budget.

  • Know the California regulations for Assisted Living: Each state has its own laws and inspections processes to ensure seniors reside in a safe environment. Depending on your state, you may even be able to look up inspection reports for the community(ies) you’re considering. Learn more about California regulations for Assisted Living.
