My mom came to the memory care floor of The Grande after a fall. The workers there are wonderful. They took such great care of her even through the most difficult of times. She lived there only 8 weeks before her death but she found such peace in those that dealt with her. [names removed] and so many others gave of their time to sit with her, listen to her, feed her, hug her and make her last days a bit more pleasurable. She couldn't see very well but she knew their voices. She would smile when they came in and talked with her. She loved it when they would just hold her hand. Mom did not leave her bed so I can't address all of the things that were offered. If you need a place for a loved one where they will be cared for and treated with respect, please try The Grande at Laumeier. They were wonderful and gave peace of mind to our entire family.... My number one concern for my loved one or anyone else's is that they're taken care of and not just left in their room. My loved one received very poor care here. I do know they have gone through a total leadership change that started in the time she was there. So I would recommend asking how well the new leadership is actually overseeing the caregiver staff. The caregivers were absolutely horrible for the most part, although there were a few diamonds. I loved the director of memory care, but she quit while we were there because of all the chaos that was going on. Until that caregiver team is worked out, it's just not a safe place for people who have a lot of physical needs to thrive. My loved one also had a bad experience with the food. When she would special order things, they wouldn't come, so she would go without eating. If The Sheridan did everything they said they were going to do, I would have had no issue with it. But we just had problems form the get-go, and they never got things in place. It was such a disappointment, especially after how highly they were recommended. The grounds and the facility are a beautiful setting, and they sell themselves very well. But it was all just smoke and mirrors.
We thought The Sheridan at Laumeier Park was very nice. They were very confident they would be able to help my loved one. But without a Hoyer lift, I don't think they would have been able to meet her care needs. So the atmosphere and facility I would rate a 5. But the honesty of their personnel I would rate a 3. It looked like a place that can do wonders for independent individuals though.

Selection of activities are disappointing. Most members don't participate. Often activities are canceled. Doesn't seem to be much resident interaction among themselves. Seems to be a high turnover of staff. The laundry is great with no issues. The cleaning of the rooms is not on a regular schedule. Sometimes the rooms seem to not have been cleaned in over a week. Often the dining room is short staffed, they seem to run out of certain menu items frequently.

The lack of communication at this facility is absolutely ridiculous. There is no one ever available to assist you. You have to wait between 10 to 15 minutes to find someone who works there to let you back onto the elevator to leave. My friend never has anything to drink in her room. They dont help with bathing or care of any kind. They would have to be called numerous times for someone to return a phone call. The nurse named [name removed] has the worse bedside manor I've ever seen. She is clearly burnt out and has no empathy toward the residents in her care. It's absolutely sad the amount you are charging compared to the care you are giving .

The meals here are chef prepared and residents get a daily menu that they are able to choose from. I think overall it is a good facility. I love the staff they are very friendly and take good care of my parents, they really make a good effort to be consistent. I do think they could improve the consistency and keeping track of how often my mom is bathed, they could document it to make it easier.

Our family had an in person tour experience and we were blown away by The Sheridian, we were so impressed with the entire community. My husband and I even joke about saving up and moving here when its our time.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The community is clean, and nice. The staff are very helpful. The rooms are beautiful. My loved one loves the food. My loved one has only been here for a few weeks.

September 25, 2021Thank you Cindy! We're proud to have earned your recommendation.
The director is not very good with communication. We were supposed to have a conference call this week and she never called me. Some everyday staff are friendly and some are not very attentive to my mom and her needs. They seem to be understaffed of qualified people and I would not recommend after our experience. For the price, I expected more.

Please don’t send your loved ones here. They make so many promises and don’t come close to taking proper care of their patients. Meds are given incorrectly, they don’t answer the call button when patients press it for help. Prices are incredibly higher than they quote you before moving in. In the 11 months my parents were there, they went through numerous directors, directors of nursing and caregivers.
The food is not that great, kind of institutional. Overall they take excellent care of the residents. My mom seems happy at the Sheridan. They have nice outdoor space. They have a secured patio and gardening areas for the memory care side. It is a brand new community.

During this Pandemic the program director [name removed] has each week added things the residents can do in their rooms to keep up moral and give them something to do. The halls have been split in sections and assigned someone to take care for social needs. They do phone and video chats with family at home. The CNA’s are going out of their way to see to residents needs. Their visits to take vitals with a cheerful hello are a lift to spirits. CNA [name removed] will stop and say hello to my husband on her lunch time that is dedication and caring for residents. The staff is always helpful when I call and makes me feel reassured they are taking care of everyone. This Sheridan has done everything possible to protect our loved ones. Thank you staff from the director to the cleaning personnel for taking care of all the residents.
This is a fairly new, attractive facility. By far, they have the best shared living space -- two identical bedrooms opening to a foyer with a shared bath, instead of two residents sharing a single room. (Naturally, there was a waiting list for these rooms, which ran about $1,000 less per month.) I liked the GPS trackers residents wore (like a watch). As they were having a staff meeting (for both assisted living and memory care staff), it was hard to gauge how much staff was dedicated to memory care. The facility director seemed to have lots of energy. Costs were mid-range.
My mother really enjoyed her stay at the Sheridan at Laumeier Park. The memory care staff was very friendly and caring. [Name removed] and [name removed] went over and above to get my mother into the facility quickly. It's a beautiful place and the receptionist is great.

We are very pleased with the Sheridan at Laumeier Park. Our mom has lived their for several months and has adjusted better than we anticipated. The staff is great - they know all of the residents and treat them like family. I highly recommend this community should your parents be unable to live on their own!

June 4, 2018Thank you for sharing your review of our community; we appreciate your feedback!
Memory care floor is awful. If a resident provides a little challenge they ship them over to SLU for evaluation and/ or to medicate them. After spending about 10 days out of 2 months in the facility they still charged us for the entire time, despite the fact that they kept shipping her out and told us we had to hire around the clock care to live with her upon her return. I read other reviews on Facebook saying how they were being charged for up to two months after their loved one passed away. I would strongly urge you to explore other options. They only care about the bottom line.
I just love the place! The staff are just fantastic! They are very nice. There are some bugs that we are still working out, such as the fact that their wristband system is experiencing some trouble because they are hard for the residents to work. The meals are also fantastic! It looks just like a restaurant, and they give seconds to residents when they want it. There are also many activities to join in on. Overall, we are very pleased!
