I was not impressed with The Fountains. When I walked in for my tour, it felt more like a nursing home rather than independent living.

Take your loved one elsewhere!!
Not 1st choice in a place for my mom's 14-day Skilled Nursing Care, constantly had to ask for basic essentials, from soap, towels to even giving my mom a bath. Staff to Dr. [name removed] than professional with the exception of an isolated few staff members. Clearly Short staffed, with limited supplies to accommodate in daily care. For the amount that my mom's insurance is paying this facility, the services given are less than desirable. Everyday that I leave her for the night, my heart weeps. Please dont bring your love ones here. Pay the extra $$ for Village Baptist or Epworth Villa.

Best People Around!
My father was in Assisted Living for a short period of time before being put on Hospice-understandably his increased level of care required him to be moved to their skilled nursing facility-I dreaded this for my Dad-he was now in a hospital bed in his room we had set up for him so nicely and he wouldn't be able to bring those items with him-the nursing staff was just terrific in caring for him and he would have to have another group of nurses that would have to learn about him-the move was scheduled for the following week until my Dad's health steadily declined and the Administrator and Director of Nurses informed me they wouldn't move him!! It required more intensive nursing care from the aides and nurses however I never felt from them that my Dad was a burden and they were quick to fulfill any requests I had-like moving my Dad up in his bed or finding a straw to help with getting him a drink or feeding him ice cream/oatmeal to answering any questions I had and kind words and hugs after my Dad passed away within the week-it truly helped our family knowing he was in a safe comfortable supportive environment until his passing! I can't thank them enough!

I found The Fountains to have pleasant and varied apartments, which they were willing to work with you on getting what items you considered 'necessary' for your personal apartment. However, the one thing which I really do want is a full kitchen or kitchenette for those times when I do want to do 'special' cooking with my kids. All they have is a very small camper-size fridge with room for a microwave. The apartments themselves are kept updated it would appear, but the surrounding community spaces appear dated. The staff were very helpful and informative and extremely pleasant. The food, while adequate, was not what I'm really looking for, which is something with a lot of veggies and more chef- cuisine oriented.

Thanks for your high praise. We pride ourselves on a warm, welcoming friendly atmosphere and that comes easily because our team truly loves what they do. Our sense of community comes from knowing our residents, their likes and dislikes and providing a fun-filled lifestyle with lots of events, programs and choices. While our building is definitely not new, we keep it as clean as a whistle and filled with vibrant programs and happy residents. I’ll share your review with our dining services team to ensure we are achieving satisfaction in every area. Best of luck in your search and thanks again for visiting. Home Sweet Home
After living at the Fountains for 3 years, I want to thank you for the great days I have enjoyed. The staff and residents have made it home to me. I have found it easy to fit in and take part in many of the programs offered. Not knowing the city, it has been educational going to mystery dinners nd lunches . Learning the town and learning more about my new friends has been wonderful. Trips out of town appeal to all, and you meet new people on each trip, therefore developing more and perhaps closer relationships.. recently we decorated hats to wear to a MOTHERS DAY TEA which wahs lots of fun. Many enjoy games and dominoes and you can see groups of people having fun most any time of the day. You can stay as busy as you want. To keep our bodies fit, there is a fitness center along with a big heated pool with different groups using it throughout the day. Thai Chi is also offered to keep our bodies flexible. If anyone knows it is time for you to not live alone anymore, the Fountains is where you can feel right at home. If you are not sure about financial matters, the staff will work with you to help figure a way you might move here. Come have fun and be comfortable here, WB

Thankful Dad calls “The Inn” his home
As I was talking with [name removed] today, I told her Dad would miss lunch as he had a Dr. appointment. When we arrived back from the Doctors at 1:30 pm a box lunch was sitting on his desk along with 2 cookies. The staff at "The Inn" don't just work there...they have a passion to be there and take care of dad as if he is part of their family. My sister and I are so thankful Dad calls "The Inn" his home.

Several red flags, nobody manning the front desk on weekends, entry door was wide open, shabby apartments, poor set up on bathroom, no place for a microwave or even a coffee pot. Surprisingly little to offer for the price. In comparisons, this was the highest cost of the one's we looked at. We'll pass on this one.

Thank you for visiting; I’m sorry we aren’t your first choice. I believe you may have seen a work-in-progress apartment, as each residence is refreshed and refurbished prior to move-in. Although some of the apartments do not have sinks or countertops we offer other styles and choices with kitchenettes in every level of care. All apartments feature a private restroom with a walk in shower and are 100% disabled accessible. If you care to give us another look I would be glad to share lunch or coffee and desert and hear more about your impressions. Everything is excellent here
I love this community because everything we have asked the staff to do, they do it. I picked this place over others because everyone here is so friendly. I have had no problems thus far. The staff members are friendly, personable, and treat my friends very well. If there’s something we need, they get it immediately. The food is excellent and the chefs make creative meals. They really cater to the resident's tastes. The grounds themselves are clean. My friend’s rooms are cleaned and the beds are changed once a week. They also clean the bathrooms every other day. I really like that they have a lot of activities to keep them moving. There’s a calendar of things to do including bingo, trips to restaurants, going to the casino, and going down to the river. I could not be more pleased with this facility, they offer excellent care. I would absolutely recommend this community.

The Staff Are Very Good
My mother-in-law is doing fine being in the assisted living part of the community. She has dementia and the staff have been great with helping her and the job of assisting her. The meals taste very good with a good selection to choose from. We have not had any problems and they take care of anything that we ask. The community is in a convenient location for both family to pick her up for appointments or to see her.

Brand new facility!
I think it been a good place for my parents so far, the staff is very friendly. The only concern is that because it is such a new place, they started to move people in much sooner than they should have. When my parents moved into their apartment, they were still finishing up the paint. The meals have been the best part about it, my parents really like the food.

Run away
My mother was not cared for well. We were assured they would put their eyes on her every day. That did not happen. When She needed to transition from independent to assisted living, it took them over 3 months and 4 requests before the placement interview occurred. Housekeeping is supposed to clean every two weeks.... every two months is more like it. The screen door and air conditioner were broken for over 2 months despite repeated requests for repair. When we moved Mom to another facility the other residents and dining room staff bid her farewell. There was not one word from Scott or Amy (those in charge) in the 2 days we were there prepping for the move. What a shame. Our attorney is handling all correspondence with them now.

Great Experience
My mother was at The Fountains at Canterbury for Skilled Rehab. I am the full time caregiver for my mother so I was a little nervous about having her go stay somewhere. She was there for almost a month and the experience was great! She honestly left there 10 times better than when she went in. Her room was always clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly, knowledgable and ready to help. My mother re-gained so much during her stay thanks to the nurses and therapists. It meant a lot to me to know that she was being well taken care of away from home and that I could have peace of mind that she was receiving quality services. I hope we don't, but if we ever needed skilled rehab again, I would definitely choose The Fountains.
