Small intimate facility that feels like family
They have taken excellent care of my parents in Memory Care. We love how small the Memory Care Unit is. It has a very large family feel to it in Memory Care among the residents and caregivers. I have recommended it to many friends .& family. I am not sure how the price compares to others but we loved how few residents to caregiver ratio it has. My mother passed on [date removed] after a short illness and they were very caring and compassionate through all we r going through. My dad is still living there with dementia and everyone from [name removed] the director over Assisted Living & Memory Care to the newest hired caregiver has given 110% to help him adjust to being without my mom. They were together 79 years

Excellent facility; caring staff
My mom is 102 years old and has been at the ETTA for just over two months now. The staff have been valuable partners in transitioning my mother from her home to memory care. Throughout this difficult transition, the staff have been flexible, compassionate, available and receptive to family involvement, and proactive in identifying needs and offering solutions or helpful resources.

A great place
mom has been at THE ETTA memory care facility for six months now. I have nothing but praise for this place and I’ve seen the caretakers be so kind and sweet with not only my mom, but with all of the residents there. I’ve gotten to know several of the caretakers fairly well over the last six months and I’m in awe of how much they care for the people that they are taking care of. Taking care of somebody who has a memory problem is at best difficult, And they seem to go above and beyond all the time. hopefully, you’ll never be in a position to have to find a facility for memory care for somebody you love, but if you do, I would place it at the top of the list.

[name removed] and [name removed] are always in good spirits and helpful to all the residence The Etta is filled with kind and loving people. The Executive Director at The Etta at Shavano Park is [name removed]. [name removed] always answers his phone or calls you back if you leave him a msg. He always does his best to get you an answer or attend to any problems you may be having. Every Friday [name removed] writes a wonderful email with what went on that week and attaches beautify pictures of the residents. That’s something I always look forward to. You can betta on the Etta
The facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. The staff is warm and very caring. The residents are generally welcoming and moderately active. There are opportunities for arts and crafts, game playing (bingo, Uno, etc.), and group movie watching. Because of the different level of care options, residents are able to receive the assistance they need / want while maintaining their independence. Frankly, the food fell into the category of "needs improvement" for the better part of the past 18 months. That said, there has been a significant, sustained improvement over the past 60 days.

Content with this choice for our Loved One
I appreciate all the activities offered, exercise programs, the comfortable accommodations, how clean the facility and my loved ones room is! The total first impression of the entire home outside and in was pretty as well as warm and welcoming! With my Mom still being able to still do a lot of things, as mentioned before, the number of activities offered, so that she can stay busy along with having time to make new friends and not just confine herself to her room. The residents there are also so kind and cute! Felt Mom could really enjoy living there overall.

Peace of mind for my sister and I
My parents are receiving excellent care in the memory care unit. Memory Care unit only has 17 residents so ratio of caregiver to resident is amazing. We were very lucky when we needed to move them into memory care an apartment was available. Every staff member has been very friendly and helpful. My mother was coming off of a fall followed by hospitalization and rehab... we were advised after her falling at Independence Hill Assisted Living that we needed to relocate both into memory care. We inquired at the Etta on [date removed] and had approval with move in for them by [date removed]. We have been blessed by this.

Very nice
When I toured The Etta at Shavano Park there were several activities in progress. All of the residents were engaged in the activities. They were putting together a women's choir at the time, with 5 or 6 residents. The residents are very involved in the activities. The Etta at Shavano always had two residents as greeters at the front door, so when I walk in I am greeted every time with smiles.

They have been great with communication and call me with any sort of updates. They have a lot of activities offered for the residents, they keep them very busy with things like games, movie nights, yoga classes, etc. I am so blessed to have found this facility for her. A Place for Mom has scored The Etta at Shavano Park 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
