I would say the staff is friendly and the private rooms are big comparatively. As with any place, changes take a bit of time and getting all shifts on the same page. Comparatively, they are still head and shoulders above a LOT of their competition.

Great Place
Benton House of West Ashley is a great place - the people there are wonderful. It is truly a lovely place. Everyone is pleasant and very helpful. Highly recommend Benton House. We visited 5 places, and this was by far the very best. They go out of their way to take care of your loved ones, and it is very clean.

Our family had an in person tour and the lady who took us around the community was super enthusiastic and overall we really did like the place. We thought the other staff we met with were nice and they even introduced us to some of their residents. It was a great tour experience

Nice Place with Happy People
They have super nice people that are they responsive. Activities and food are generally good for the residents. The staff communication with the family has been very good.
The community does provide a la carte options as well as a main course option for the residents.
The community will assist with laundry and basic housekeeping for our loved one.
The only negative is the maintenance of the inside of the building. It would be nice to see some updates.

Update
Right now most communities are having a hard time with staffing. Right now I would just encourage your loved one to call for help if it is needed. I do feel like this community is trying to make improvements and improve the staffing. They have activities in this community like bingo, pet visits and more for the residents to remain busy and active in the community. My loved one is not able to participate often but they have things going on all the time like people coming in to sing cooking and more.

Comfortable living in Charleston
We selected Benton House because it was attractive, smaller with all rooms on a single floor, and close enough for me to be there as frequently as needed. The rooms are larger and her room even has a screened porch. As with all places now, staff is a little thin on the ground, so some things take a bit longer than optimal.

Bate and switch
Initially the marketing team was outstanding, they did a great job getting us to come, but when we moved our loved one in they did a poor job of retaining us. They did not live up to our expectations. Some of our loved ones things were stolen and our of those things were some very valuable items. One major issues was communication with the staff, it was always difficult to get someone on the phone when we needed to. Before we moved our loved one out, they were placed from assisted living into memory care, but into a temporary room. It took them two weeks to get our loved one settled, and in the meantime they declined very quickly. Our loved one was not comfortable in the temporary room, so he would sleep in the dining hall sometimes. Also the activities were not stimulating enough. However the care takers on the memory care side were very kind, and would take our phone calls for our loved one since they were not allowed to have phones themselves.

Benton House has my vote
We chose Benton House over The Bridge. The facility is very nice and is small enough to allow the staff to establish relationships with the residents and the residents' families. [Name removed] and his team have been phenomenal and are always ready to assist with any questions the family may have. Mom has transitioned beautifully. I would highly recommend Benton House!

My brother and I were very impressed with the tour and everything was clean, organized, and friendly. Apt was very nice and just big enough. The price was a little out of our range but we will make do. In other words you pay for what you get which I believe is the best compared to the other places we saw. Thanks so much for all your help and support.
