We felt that the staff genuinely cared for my mom and had her best interests in mind. The seamless integration of medical support and medicine management helped to properly consolidate my mom’s meds and put her on a much better track.\nMy primary recommendation for Sunrise is to consolidate POC contact information for the different aspects of residential life (nurse, NP, billing, care managers etc.) to and overcommunicate this info to the resident’s families.\nI would highly recommend Sunrise to others, and appreciate their support during my mom’s time in VA. I've just been so happy with the care and professionalism. it's top notch. There is a good choice of things to do for activities and you can keep busy if you want to keep busy or keep to yourself and read the paper or read a book. There were several things going on with all of us. Sunrise went above and beyond to help us work through these issues; they even recommended a moving company that was able to help us out for a very quick move. The Dir of the Memory Care unit is excellent, and the woman who heads up the activities in this unit is incredible (her young children also get involved-it's lovely). We had an issue with the director, but she has since left the position. This has been a learning experience for us. MIL gets upset when she sees family, so we do not go over often, and we rely upon staff heavily. They use a SmileApp to keep in touch; it helps, though it has glitches. The billing system is not smooth. And a nasty surprise is that staff does not accompany a resident while the resident is in the ER, but that not a legal requirement in VA. The facility is lovely, thoughtfully laid out, and the food is excellent.
