Response from South Hill Village
November 4, 2022Mark, thank you for this incredible review about our community and staff! We appreciate your trust in us in caring for your mother here at South Hill Village.
South Hill Village was very nice and could have been a good option. It was just too far away and would have taken us too long to get there to visit.

October 20, 2022Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave a kind review about our community. We appreciate you stopping by for a tour.
I am very impressed with South Hill Village so far. Everybody is so friendly and the residents all seem so happy when I talk to them during my visits with mom. My granddaughters who are little come to visit my mom a lot and everyone loves having them here. There are tons of activities provided for the residents - she is always busy. The value for the money is amazing for the care that she is receiving. We love South Hill Village and mom is so happy to be here. We would highly recommend the facility to other families.

Response from South Hill Village
October 20, 2022Stephanie, it warms our hearts to read your sweet review about our community. We appreciate you taking the time to leave such kind words. It is an honor to care for your mom at South Hill Village!
South Hill offers independent living, assisted living and memory care. I would really caution people looking into this facility (even if it is for independent living or assisted) to look into the memory care unit as well even if your loved one does not need that care at this time. The rooms are extremely small, the hallways are narrow, and the common area is really cramped. When we went to look at memory care all of the residents were sitting hip to hip watching TV. The food is fantastic for independent and assisted living, but for memory care it is boxed up and driven over. I would not recommend South Hill Village for Memory care.

Aside from a few billing issues, everything else has been top shelf. My mom loves the staff. They were very helpful getting her in the door and helping her make the transition to senior living. They've been very adept at working with her. Her apartment is kind of small , but it's pretty sweet all things considered - I'm kind of jealous! She has covered, locked storage for her car. I hear zero complaints from her, and she's the type of person who would most certainly let me know if she had any.

This community is worth looking into. They are very communicative. There have been a lot of changes going on recently and issues with staffing. They really care for the residents there and they take pride in their building. It is well worth it.

November 22, 2021Hello Tara, thank you for your positive feedback about our community! We appreciate your kind words and will always do our best for the people who call South Hill Village home.
This is much nicer atmosphere and the residents aren't sitting in the hallways. The community feels like family. The staff are really good at communicating with the family with any questions or concerns. They are caring and efficient as well.

Response from South Hill Village
September 20, 2021Hello Randi, thank you very much for taking the time to leave your positive feedback about our community and team members. We always have something going on at South Hill Village, whether it's an activity, exercise, or events - it's hard to stay still here! Please let us know if there is ever anything we can do for you, including how we can change your 4-star rating to 5 stars. Thank you.
We do think it is pretty expensive for everything they have to offer, but overall our experience has been good so far. They are not allowing families to come inside and eat the meals with their families yet, but our loved one does say the food is great.

Some caregivers are really caring and concerned about my loved ones well being. There have been time when we first moved in, that I had to help my loved one to bathroom because the caregivers were late. We chose this community because it had a nice spacious apartment and they had the continuum of care and we knew we would need that someday. The food is moderate and fluctuates. The price at the time was right but now it has become way overpriced I would suggest that you visit your loved ones as often as can.

in a nutshell... the staff mishandled my mother and broke her leg. Sent her to emergency, she was there for two weeks, then sent to a rehab facility. Before she even returned to Brookdale, we received a letter that she was being evicted! Had to find another place for her. THOUSANDS of dollars afterword and... Brookdale still claims that there is an amount owed. HORRIBLE food! NEVER enough staff! Missed bathing's (sometimes three weeks)!! Horrible room cleanings. BROOKHELL!!

This was a great tour. The staff was very knowledgeable and answered all of my family's questions. They took their time and did not make us feel rushed. The floor plan is beautifully laid out so that nobody gets lost. This was where I was educated in the points system of how the rates are evaluated and charged accordingly. We would have chosen this place but they did not have any openings at the time of our visit.

I liked the fact that residents were sitting in the open lobby, reading newspapers, when we arrived. Very open area up front. One bedroom room (the small one) was ample for Dad and had a lot of closet space plus a pass-thru for privacy things.

My dad hasn't moved in yet but [Removed] has been excellent to us. She went above and beyond being helpful and I can't say enough good things about how much she has helped us. She helped us with the community fee, rent, and she reserved a room that we wanted for him. I liked that every apartment has an outdoor balcony or patio. My dad picked this and it seems content on moving in. The people there are happy and engaged with activities. It is very positive.

Everything has been going very well for my mother since she has recently made the move into this community. The staff have provided her with with great quality of care and lots of one on one time in the memory care unit. She has had no complaints about the food and enjoys participating in the activities that she is able too throughout the week. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone.

Clean, Bright, has railings on all floor walls for stability and safety. Prices for extra care, e.g. handling medication and meal delivery seem a bit high. e.g.-- $30 per day for scheduled delivery of medication.

Met at the door by tour guide, talked about Mom before we went on the tour, all questions were answered. Facilities were not only lovely, but also designed just for Mom and "her world now". She would be comfortable and I think happy here.
